Unique problem with Treo 600 SMS

I bought the unlocked treo 600 two years ago. Have been using it with Cingular.

I have the latest firmware, daylight savings etc. I also use the jot graffiti application.

When I insert a SIM card from another carrer Non-USA (Aritel India)

The phone works fine but in the SMS function, it does the following:

1) Lets me select and type a receiver in the "to" field.
2) In the messege field it will not type any word when i use the keyboard or the graphitti text. It beeps at every press of the key. Nothing happens.

When I insert the same SIM into another Sony Erricsson unlocked phone, I can type in the message but the SMS does not go through.

In both phones, I can receive SMS when the non-US SIM is in the phone.

This problem is not limited to when the phone is operated in USA. It also happens when used in India.

Signal strength is full.

When in the TREO, the SMS "Properties Tab" under options has a message center number
However, the e-mail center numbers is blank (With Indian SIM)

With Cingular, both are populated and everything works.

Any one experience this?

Have you contacted Aritel? It might be a problem on their end.

Yes they claimed it can be an issue with the phone. Since they did not furnish the phone, they will not deal with it.

How about contacting Palm? It might be worth a try, though since it's no longer manufactured they might not support it either...

But its worth a try. They may try and charge you for it, but try their support via the MyPalm.com Beta site.
