TREO 600 does not read sim card..help!!

I purchased a TREO 600 so I could use it as an mp3 player and some
of the software that is designed for it.
I spend the buck on the Treo vs a regular cellular phone so I could
use its features but so far, it's been very frustrating.
My Treo does not read memory cards. It can be selected under
the pull down menu but there are no contents.
I tried reseting the phone, swapping cards with my brother in law who
is pretty experienced with the Treo & Macs and even his card appeared blank on mine, and mine did show contents on his.
Obviously, I can not download software either because of this problem.
So, I am left with just the phone, the camera,the basics & the frustration.
Help please, does anybody know how to solve this problem?
I called T-Mobile so many times but they are clueless, so are the
"Technical" staff from Palm. I realized I was talking to people in India
who I could not undrestand and had absolutely no clue either...
Ajjjjj!!! Help please?

Okay, I am not an expert, but over time I have had issues with cards. First, be sure your card is undamaged and readable. If you have a computer that has the slot for this type of media, open the card in Windows Explorer. If not, go by your local computer store, and have a salesman insert in one of their computers (even the guys at Best Buy will do this for you). Second, you should have an application on your phone that says "card info". This is the palm application that will tell you the summary of the card inserted. If your card does not show up. You may have a software problem. At this point you may want to re-install your palm os. Third, there are freeware programs that you can load into phone memory that will read cards, in some cases make a card readable, try them. Lastly, try the different forums from the Treo sites, Treonauts, Treo Bits, Mytreo, etc. You very well might find your answers there.
