Question Transfer contacts from centro

Hi All,

I am seriously tempted by the GSM Pre the O2 guy showed me today, even if I have to leave Vodafone.

But.....

I am need to know if I can transfer my contacts and the attached notes to the Pre. I have all the directions to my clients in the notes and this is a deal breaker for me as I work as a Vet and my memory can fade at 3 am!

Also

Is a 1GB monthly Data plan going to do for mainly email, some web surfing?
Love the Centro but never bothered using web as got it Sim Free from Palm, as not supported by Carriers here in Ireland, and didn't bother with data plan.

Many thanks for taking the time to answer this

Rachel

For the most part, all contact information will transfer to the Pre with the several transfer options. The easiest would be to have them all ported over when you purchase your phone by your carrier's store ... but in the early release that failed for me and my 3000 contacts with notes. The after the fact option for me was to send my Palm OS contact data to Google Contacts (privacy issue perhaps) and allow the synergy feature to update all your contacts on the Pre and keep a 'sync' copy on Google Contacts. It didn't transfer perfectly BUT all the data was still there and can be slowly editted to a form that you can live with. I do like the synergy feature now that I'm using it, but miss the search features with my 'notes' from my Datebook ... no search of Calendar or notes there that I can figure out.

Simple anwser is that Google Contacts work well once you get your Palm OS contact into it ... as well as other options for porting your data.

I used iSync and exported up to Gmail and it kept the formatting of my notes perfectly. Using Hotsync and Gmail my formatting was very poor.

Now i have to decide if want the Pre!

Thanks for your advice

Rachel

The GSM Pre forum on Pre Central.net is where I am lurking at the moment. There seems to be a fair bit of dissatisfaction on it, espcially concerning the hardware. However an original Visor user I will be sticking with Palm once I convince the company to switch to O2!!
