![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Finally, A Pre in the house ...now if my daughter would let me play with it! It was time to upgrade my daughter's Centro. It was 2.5 years old and finally the hardware started to go. I went in to the Sprint Store and purchased her a Pre while she was in school. I put her Pre on the touchstone in her room and left it for her to find. I figured after my sleep I would teach her the ins and outs of the Pre. When I awoke, I went to greet her. I asked her if she had any questions. "No" she said. I took the Pre and looked at what she had done. She "dragged and dropped" music, installed pandora, set her alarms and was already texting. I asked her how she figured it out and she stated that she read the manual and was just playing with it. It is funny because when i was at the Sprint Store, a lady bought a Pre and turned it back in because it was difficult and she didn't like it. PATIENCE!!! Well, since there is a Pre in the house I have a lot of learning to do. With the little time I've had with it I will say that it is one beautiful sleek device. One little problem I have noticed is that the Network Is Disconnected comes up a bit. Must be something with the new update. I haven't had time to figure it out yet. I'm just glad that there is a Pre in the house!

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I am waiting to play with one also but I might get another phone before they come out in the US and I am not going to pay $700.00 for a gsm version whether its got a qwertz or qwerty keyboard. I really think that a pixi with gsm and only an on screen keyboard would be an even better solution at least for me. Like the palm post picture but with a more realistic battery. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I will say one thing, Palm did a real nice job with the OS! While it is a little slow opening up some apps, the whole UI is a great experience. Apparantely the OS is easy to use because my daughter has it down packed now. She was showing me a few things. One annoyance I have found so far is that there is no option to forward a text. Maybe I missed it and will try to find the option again tomorrow. But who decided that forwarding a text was not important? The app store is pretty neat. The ease of getting the app onto the Pre is just amazing. I so used to downloading the cab and then uploading it to my Treo and then installing it. The Pre's method is click, download, open, that easy. It looks like the app catalogue is growing pretty steadily too. There are some very good apps in there. I haven't had the time to set her up with a CC in order to purchase apps yet. I'm debating whether that is a good idea or not. I will say one thing to jfa and Taz. Patience. This Pre is so worth it! It really is. I still have one more year to go on my contract before I can get one. Hopefully Palm will have newer device out and I can play with that one.

![]() ![]() | Although I don't forward SMS messages very much, it would be a nice feature. It is a often requested feature for the upcoming WebOS versions and suspect from all I've read that it is in the works. For now to my knowledge there isn't an easy fix. (if there is a hack, perhaps someone will post it here ... although I'll be slow to add too many 'rarely used' apps or hacks to my currently very stable Pre) |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Thnx Taz. I'm like RichC. I don't like to hack too much on something I don't know. I will research it for sure.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I'm leaning towards getting the Sprint HTC Touch Pro 2 as my next phone. It does two things that the Pre doesn't: still works on my low budget SERO account and can be used as an international GSM phone. The only issue I have with it currently is the price, but I figure if I wait a few more months that will go down. From the reviews it sounds like an excellent device and it has some features that the Treo Pro doesn't, although it sounds like its not as smooth as the Pro. What do you all think? TM
