Current Sprint CDMA Palm webOS version is 1.2.1 ... perhaps the GSM model is different just as the Palm Pixi will be different when it arrives here in the U.S. in a few days. (11/15/2009)

Right, see what you mean. I was thinking of GSM versions in terms of non-operator locked versions.

For those time I travel, I do wish my Pre had a GSM option, as while traveling I end up with two phones in my pocket: the Pre and my GSM quad-band Centro with a ridiculously priced UK SIM card offering "world coverage." One would think carriers could 'chip' just one phone for all networks, but seeing that the GSM version of the Pre has a different webOS, it has me wondering what else is missing anyway?

I believe that an update is coming soon to the gsm pre to bring it up tcloser to the upcoming 1.3 thats set for sometime soon for the sprint version. I wonder if the verizon pre will start out with 1.1.x or come out with 1.3.x?

I believe Palm are going to release a unified upgrade which will be 1.3 or 1.3.1. Verizon Pre's should have the same version as Sprint's as they are both CDMA, albeit without Sprints apps.
