Upgrade with current data plan Or need a new one? - Treo Forum

I have 2 more month until I can upgrade. However I am confused, since some of the guys at Radio Shack and Sam's club say that even that I currently have a Palm 755p and an unlimited data plan I still need to upgrade the data plan - anyone know if that is correct?
According to the Sprint website 'existing customers without an unlimited data plan need one' so I would assume that if I already have one I should be good to go.

They are probably right. There are only certain plans that can be used with the Pre. SERO, for example, despite having unlimited data, cannot be used with the Pre. The intent by Sprint, is to move people to more expensive plans, that still are cheaper than any of the competition.

The minimum plan you can have is the 69.99 plan. So if you don't have that you will need to upgrade.

Agreed. I had to upgrade to 1500 minutes for my shared plan in order to "upgrade" to Pre. I already had the unlimited data packages and wasn't using my 800 minutes up by any means. Even with 2 phones.

Now that would get me thinking of other options out there. I do not have sero but my plan is about where I need to be - just like you - anymore minutes or $$$ would be a waste.

the iphone requires a data plan plus the two year phone contract supposedly the pre will save you 1200.0 a year over the iphone. Look at the pro sprint has it and you would not have to change carriers like a iphone would make you.

So, let me get this straight. You don't want to spend more money on plans that are required via Sprint. The cheapest being $69.99+ tax and stuff but you are looking at the iCandy phone which requires a $30 data plan? $69.99 gets you unlimted data, text and Sprint Navigation plus 400 minutes.

The BIG BLUE will cost a little bit more than that with the iCandy.

Its like the guy who cant pay 275.00 a month for rent but will pay $75.00 a week. Hey how are things in southern Phoenix?
