Accidental Drop Test - it passed!!

As I was leaving Amsterdam and getting off the train at the airport, and was busy dragging my luggage down the 2 stairs of the train to the platform with about 40 people behind me waiting to get off, the Pre decided to leave my holster and go see what it could find. I watched in horror as the Pre tumbled (in slow motion) towards the ground, only to have it DISAPPEAR in the 6 inch gap between the train and platform. So then it fell another 4.5 feet.
I exclaimed "oh f@ck, that was my phone". No one cared except the cute blonde who had been talking to me.
So I waited for the train to leave, and then jumped down on the tracks, picked it up and found that it was mildy scratched and working like a charm. In fact I took a picture of the spot where it dropped with the Pre, which I have attached.
I dont think my Treo would have survived that.
Can you top that?!

Gadget's Adventures in Preland

Oh Gadget! I would have said the same thing!
This story would make the best commercial spot. I can see it now....
slo-mo....
train tracks,
falling Pre...
that feeling of desperation...
ooo...there goes Hitchcock.
and that satisfaction of a successful recovery.
Anyway, so good to hear your experience had a happy ending.
Perhaps you should tell the Sprint or Palm PR dept. It really is a great tale.

Down boys!! UPDATE: The phone did not completely survive. I have near loss of sound from the phone portion. IE I turn it up up all the way and still can barely hear someone talking to me. Soooo.. I am replacing it. That leads me to another complete and total boondoggle that I will post about in a seperate thread.

My wife had a volume problem with her new Samsung Eternity last week and in that people could barely hear her when she talked and there was some lint in the speaker mic hole muffling her voice. You might check your speaker grille
