Frozen Touch Screen

My touch screen on my Palm Pre is Frozen. Is there a way to reset the unit?

The process to reset the pre should be in the user guide. If not then I would say that removing the battery and waiting a few seconds before reinserting the battery should take care of the reset. Welcome to treonauts.

I haven't found the little "hole" to reset the Palm yet either ... but on the two freeze-ups I've had in the week+ of ownership, I just removed the battery.

Now I do wish the back cover was designed as 'if it were' suppose to be removed often ... I'm concerned I'm going to break a tab or something every time a slide a fingernail around the opening (the way you are suppose to open the back cover). That said, it will be nice to have a second battery since I've been only making it til 2PM when traveling before needing to charge.

There may not be an available reset hole for the pre and I am assuming that theres not a hole accesible to the stylus since there's not a stylus.. right?

If there was a 'hole' ... I can guarantee my current Pre stylus (aka: finger) wouldn't fit.

Try this......

Press the middle center button on the phone. Go to phone reset options. Locate the option partial erase two to three times. This will reset erase any music, photos, or video so back things up!

The battery cover on my Centro is the same way. Getting the cover off is easier than putting it back on. You have to press down and push to get it back on. Maybe the Pre's cover is just quirky like that.

I saved this in a memo from another thread somewhere:

1. Goto "Device info" -> "Reset Options" -> "Restart"
2. hold power button 5 seconds, select "Turn off" menu
3. sym + orange + R
4. holding the power button, flip the ringer switch back and forth 6 times

If all else fails, pull the battery.

soft reset

You can soft reset without opening battery case by doing the following:

Hold down power button (top right corner).
Slide the silent switch back and forth 3 times
Release button and wait a sec and you should see Palm reset logo come on screen (takes a couple minutes to reboot, so be patient)
