Got my phone - data transfer issue

Hi; i went to sprint to see if i want to trade up the the Pre. I was told no phone as modem....and i need that..have it with the Treo 755p.

He also told me i can go to Google synch ( not sure of exact google address) he said all the data that is on my palm will go to google and then can go from Google to the Pre. That is what he said???

Wow finally got my pre after months and months of waiting. My pim data experience was this. 716 contacts with notes. (I was really worried about losing attached notes) 312 calender events 36 tasks.

• went to plam site read data transfer assistent instructions
• could not get past step 3
• called palm waited on hold 8 minutes or so got a hold of someone in phillipines
• he tried for 10 minutes and escalated my call
• supervisor came on and made sure the usb port I was plugged into on my computer was mapping the drive. had to change drive letter because my network has so many drives mapped. did this using device management in xp
• oh yea before this she had me got log me in so she could control my desktop
• realized i had a n older version of palm desktop
• she upgraded desktop
• Then she created seperate profiles for calender memos and contacts in desktop
• then she downloaded custom sync
• used custom sync 1 time for for each profile
• 716 contacts took about 20 minutes
• 36 memos 10 minutes
• 300 some odd calender events 4 minutes
• used my gmail account to check that everything syns well
• great experience took 1.5 hours or so overall

Don't forget you get 90 days free tech suppport the # is in the box with your pre. I did not lose any info. Private contacts will not sync and I know of know way to store private data on a pre yet
