![]() | My pre sucks Sorry but my 24 hours of experience with the pre has been awful. It's so slippery I have dropped it at least 5 times already. The battery life is not up to snuff, I drove about 1 hour last night with the gps program on and the pre PLUGGED IN to the car charger, that one hour used up about 35% of the battery life. It's true that turning off wifi, turning off gps, turning the screen brightness down all the way extends the battery life some but what if I want to use wifi? This morning with wifi on sitting just ten feet from my wifi unit streaming tv broke up after about 10 seconds. This was with the battery fully charged. But the worst thing is the classic emulator, I can't get any of my old programs to work. I miss my treo 755p real bad. I mostly used my treo as for podcasts, I love downloading npr podcasts with quicknews, I'll probably return this pre. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | A copuple of things to check, firstly make sure your Pre is running the latest firmware, currently 1.0.2. Also there's a bug in the AIM client that causes it to use up the battery excessively, so make sure you sign out of that and also Google Talk when you're not using them. People have also found that switching the email synching from every x amount of minutes to being pushed reduced the battery usage.

![]() | I've done that today, got much better battery usage. But the killer for me is not being able to use my old apps, I thought it was going to come with a free emulator, the emulator I downloaded today is terribly buggy. The thing shoots out of my hand almost every time I pick it up. I'm just not an early adopter, I don't have the time to mess around with all this stuff. If you are going to come up with a new os isn't it supposed to be backwards compatible? Isn't that what we used to complain about with windows so much? |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | The WebOS is totally new. Throw out what you know and you have to learn the new OS. The emulator from motion apps is still in beta. Give them time to work out the bugs.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Depends, making it backwards compatible, specially in the case of something as dated as PalmOS, means you have to take on lots of baggage. With WebOS they wanted to start from a clean sheet.

![]() ![]() ![]() | Ok I know it is not supposed to happen this way, but, I have definitely noticed better battery life after I have used a device for a while..say a couple of weeks. Also, It is really important not to sync too often. I have set my Treo to sync 4X/daily. If one needs to know right away, one can always do a manual sync. Birdbrain, I sure hope the experience improves for you! Keep us posted. |

![]() | Ok, I'll get the touchstone and keep the pre. Where can I go to ask developers for Volume Care, a podcatcher and Audible programs? BTW, can you mount the touchstone on the dash and use it in the car as a combination car charger/holder? |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Audible would have to write the Audible App for the Pre. I'd expect a Podcatcher app within the next few weeks, and you can email support at Go Treo Software to see if they're planning on making a version for Pre. |
