![]() ![]() | Yeah I'm a fan of being able to use my phone outside the US, small part of Canada (near airports) and some bits of Mexico. I'm also a fan of popping in a sim from a local provider and not paying the extortionate roaming charges. ~ Steph

![]() | I will now reconsider. I originated this thread to speak of the reasons as to why I would NOT get a Pre. Three things have come to my attention that may cause me to reconsider. #1. Cost. Based over a 2 year contract, a savings of over $1,000 is nothing to sneeze at. #2. Email. I used the email redirect to access my Lotus Notes email at work on my phone when I owned a 600. When I got the Centro, I found that the software was not compatible and lost access to my work email. Major Bummer. Pre will offer access to my email again. Major Winner. #3. Emulator. With the emulator software I won't have to give up most of my current apps that I've accumulated over the years. Given that my current contract with Sprint doesn't run out till Oct. I can wait till then before making a decision. By then I should have a fairly good idea of how the Pre stacks up against iPhone 3.0 I really don't have any issues with Sprint's service. However, should I move over to AT&T and iPhone, Sprint would have a very difficult time getting me back. I don't know why Sprint has been bleeding customers so badly. Hopefully this will help them get on tract. Though most indications are that the initial Pre users will be current Sprint customers like myself who are upgrading. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Sprint's rates are definitely better than AT&Ts. I got lucky with my Nokia in that they didn't carry it at the time and I locked in a data rate 1/3 the norm. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I was joking when I said what if the Pre could sync with iTunes, it appears that I was right You can sync you music from iTunes on both Mac and Windows directly onto the Pre, as long as they are DRM free. You can also sync you're pictures on the Mac to iPhoto We'll have to see what Apple's legal department make of this ![]()

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I guess they have a patent for syncing?

![]() ![]() | I think making something compatible is ok, it just depends how they market it I suppose. Shame about the DRM, thats probably the bit where it would be breaking some license agreement or better yet the DMCA. ~ Steph

![]() | Well I broke down and did it. I bought the Pre when I said I wouldn't. I looked at the iPhone 3Gs and then the Pre.. 2 things impressed me most about the Pre over the iPhone. #1. Multi-function. Being able to have several apps open at the same time didn't seem like a big deal until I tried it. So darn cool !! #2. 3G coverage. I have friends with iPhones and they all complain about network coverage. What good is all that technology if you can't get your data?? Well so far I'm extremely happy. Gave my Centro to my son lol Still learning the apps and there doesn't seem to be a lot of menu selection or options within each app.. But who cares.. I'm smiling |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Good for you keep us posted about your pre experiences. Those of us on AT may or may not be ablke to wait on the gsm pre but your input and reading others pre experiences may or may not help us wait. I am thinking about the pure and the tilt 2 and along come rumors on a dell android with a 3.5 screen with att 3g frequencies clearing the FCC. |

![]() | Glad to hear you're happy with the Pre, but that last shouldn't have been a factor, unless you were dead set on the iPhone. I've had the same responses from iPhone users. While I was standing next to them, having no issues with data speeds, using an unlocked Treo Pro or my new Tilt 2. My impression was that either AT&T or Apple did something that limits iPhone data speeds. |
