Engadget just posted a new snippet about Palm's new OS.

Matias Duarte, designer behind Sidekick and Helio, now developing Palm's next-gen UI

"So we heard from a very reliable source that mobile user interface guru Matias Duarte -- who you may know as the man behind the Sidekick and Helio UI / user experiences -- actually left Helio late last year to join up with Palm. Although no announcement was made, we hear he and his gang of designers jumped ship (well before Helio completely flooded) to take on the monumental task of designing the UI for Palm's next-gen mobile OS".

"His resume online now lists him as "Senior Director, Human Interface and User Experience" doing "Something new..." since September 2007; we got in touch with Palm, who confirmed that he's now under the company's employ".

We are all pulling for palm, hopefully they come up with something that deserve our support.

Palm now have some top people working for them which should mean PalmOS II/Nova will be everthing we hoped for with a little bit more, but the proof of the pudding is in the eating

These phones are too expensive to eat. Besides I doubt they would taste like pudding.

Who knows. They could add pudding flavor the the tetracycline when they make the device. I hope the OS lives up though. I can see Palm going down hill if they don't "shock and awe" Palm Users.

Shock and Awe users? There isn't much they could add that would do that. Honestly they don't need anything radical for an OS, just a little more modern.

I really like Linux and Linux Mobile is way too cool. If Palm is not going to update their OS, I would be more than glad to accept Linux in place of Windows.

The UI(User Interface) doesn't need much work, but the OS behind the UI does. The way multi-tasking works in current PalmOS devices for example is very poor, which is why many people have switched to Windows based devices, or have moved to something else.

The OS is also the primary reason why you don't see a PalmOS device with built-in GPS, as well as pairing issues and other limitations. Shock and awe may come if we see a PalmOS 2/Nova based Palm with built in Wi-Fi, GPS, and 3G functionality. It would also be very interesting if Tomtom 8 came with such a device since that WOULD be a great selling feature.
