![]() | I just read an older but very insightful Palm-Mac posting about the future of Palm and their development of Nova. "...the direction Palm may be taking....looking for the consumer market and leaving the "business" end to windows mobile." "the palm o/s is relatively old hat compared to the "power" of win mob in the business sector already and will fall further behind by the time the new o/s comes out late 2008 early 2009. Thus Palm probably feel that the combination of them being so far out of the game in a years time and win mob already having this area more or less already tied up means there is little point pushing in that direction and Palm already have windows mobile devices out there competing in that market sector and they may well feel that is exposure/coverage enough" "Nope, it seems fairly clear that Palm will be going for the consumer market with Nova and that is not surprising and their talk of "web" and "pictures" and media stuff gives clues as to how consumer orientated this new o/s and subsequent devices will be......I'll guess phones with high mega pixel camera for example to compete with the likes of Nokia and their ilk with a whole host of web based services, smaller forms and a bit of the wow factor too." |

![]() | Yup, 700p4.....I've been on my soapbox about this one for awhile (with help from my fellow Treonauts). I own and operate a small (one-man) business; a busy cabinet shop. Not exactly a corporate setting, but still with the need to keep a variety of accurate records and have reliable communications and file transfers (FTP and email) in the field as well as the shop. I'm no IT guy (we have some here at Treonauts, though), but I think that, for what I do, plus the after-work fun factor, Palm OS is exactly what I should have. If I end up hiring an office staff (with 50 people; marketing, sales, legal, R&D and IT depts), then WM might be the way to go. For now, my beloved 650 (with mod ROM and 8GB SDHC) is all, and then some. ![]()
