![]() | Possiable Office and Pdf support on new Linux treo Hey i found this on Palm's job postings under engineering/ all locations: Senior Applications Engineer Duties/Responsibilities: - Deliver applications and supporting system libraries for the display and editing of MS Office and Adobe PDF documents. - Design and implement, working with internal and external development partners as needed. - Understand and influence the underlying software architectures to obtain optimal performance. - Propose reasonable trade-offs to achieve acceptable feature sets, performance, and memory use. - Enhance software robustness, code maintainability, componentization, reuse, and unification. - Provide technical leadership and good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions in a particular area. - Develop and/or review requirements and strategy for future products to contribute to the application software roadmap. Qualifications: - 10+ years of overall software engineering experience - 5+ years working on Java application software - 5+ years working on Linux/C/C++ applications and/or system libraries - 2+ years working on embedded devices - Repeated success in completing projects and delivering products to the market Required Skills/Experience: - The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate mastery of the relevant corresponding desktop applications: MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Word, Adobe PDF Reader. - Design, implementation, performance optimization of image/graphics libraries, or audio/video codecs - Application and UI development on event-driven systems - Design and implementation of software frameworks and/or middleware - Java, C/C++, Eclipse, subversion, Jira - Embedded Linux, or other modern embedded RTOS - Low power, handheld, wireless devices I noticed a while back they were looking for an engineer with experience colocating wifi, bluetooth, and cellular radios(treo 800W). This isnt proof but it does leave tantilizing clues. Also some of these other postings could shed some light on future products. Although im new to this forum I seriously hope i am not the first to look at these job postings. |
