Verizon has the Q and the Verizon Wireless XV6800, an HTC slider.

We did look at those.

We received some feedback from other users that the Q occassionally has sync issues with Exchange. On the 6800, we shyed away as it had a "mechanical" slide keyboard, which we thought could be a source of more frequent failure.

Those were really why we have been going with the 700W series

Thanks!

Yeah I hear ya, that was one of the driving reasons I stayed away from the Cingular 8500 or what ever slider model I was looking at. I haven't heard of any sync issues on the Q.

Well, it looks like the 800W has been pulled and will not be offered by Verizon.

Myself and my company are in a pickle.

We all have 700WX's, and like the device, but supplies on the 700wx are coming to an end. We are also very happy with VErizon as a carrier.

Our porblem is: Stay with Windows Mobile devices, or Consider Blackberry.

If we want Windows Mobile, we would consider either the Samsung Saga, the Moto Q. Neither holds a candle to the Palm products.

Blackberry are nice, especially with corporate software controls such as being able to disable a device remotely.

So I'm testing the Moto Q, and will also look at the Storm and the 8830.

RIght now, I really wish the 800W was available.

Anyone know if maybe there is another Windows Mobile deivce from Palm for Verizon that might come out in the next few months?

thanks

It's possible, though unlikely, that they will launch a Treo Pro that is compatible with Verizon. Though if it happened, its more likely that it would launch with Sprint first.

I took a look at the Treo Pro at Best Buy. Putting the price tag aside, to me it looks like a professional version of the Centro. Very nice, but I find the larger form factor and keyboard of the 800W (and 700WX) a much better choice

It looks like we will buy 700wx's as long as we can, and hope in the next few months Verizon embraces a new Treo product that we like

Thank you

I agree with you about the moto-Q (I don't think any non-touchscreen winmo phone can compare to the 700wx. personally, I don't think I would ever go back to a non-touchscreen phone again), but why are you so quick to rule out the saga? from what I have read, it seems like it can easily hold a candle to the 700wx.

the saga is a similar form factor (its about the same height as the 700wx, a little wider, but also much thinner). it runs winmo 6.1 pro, has a full qwerty kb, and my favorite feature; the optical mouse (which can be used as a D-pad for those that don't like the idea of a mouse pointer on the screen).

I'm in the same boat as you. I've been looking for a suitable replacement for my 700wx for a while now, but didn't like anything else available to VZW. I like WinMo, don't want a touchscreen-only phone (I need my qwerty... LOL), and don't like slider models. the saga is the first WinMo VZW phone I have seen that can compare to the treo700wx. after several days debating whether or not to get it, I took the plunge last night and ordered it from VZW's website (it'll come tomorow).

I have high hopes for it, but I won't really know how I like it until I get to use it for a few days. if I don't like it then it will be for sale on eBay and my Treo will be reactivated (but I think I will like it, so I don't expect to do that ).

I have been a long time loyal Treo user, but Palm's lack of new WinMo phones for VZW has finally caused me to give up waiting (at least for now). I'm not sure if Palm or VZW are to blame (probably a little of both), but it has caused me and probably many others to jump ship and abandon Palm (at least until they come out with something new/better).

Verizon appears to be the dirty bird for not picking up other Palm devices. They are always the last to do get anything these days.

Thanks for the info about the Saga. I did not know it had a touchscreen.
I will check it out as soon as the local Verizon store has one on display.
