In all honesty, I think Palm is dead.

They are too far behind the power curve in todays market to make it back up the ladder. My guess is they'll release this POS that we've seen pictures of and it'll be a crap shoot. They'll see the writing on the wall finally but before they can get a decent unit to market EVERYONE and their grandmother will have handsets out that can compete with the iPhone and Palm will be left standing still.

Sad, I know. I love me some Treo but deep down I just don't think they have the foresight to get away from this calamity they've been running with for years now.

IMHO one of their big problems is THEY DON'T TALK TO US! If they would just give us some kind of REAL look into what they've got going on, not just hiding in the shadows dropping bits of info on the floor for us to pick up and try and put together.

Here's a response to that letter from the man himself, Mr. Ed.

Well at least we know he's/they're taking notice, lets see if that transpires into action

well, not to make myself the center of attention, but i have been waiting for something worthwhile for some time. palm needs to get their act together and get to it or be left even more in the dust. i'm sure i'm representative of the greater part of palm followers when i say that.

I think Palm are like one of those huge oil tankers that's gone off course, it takes a lot of time and effort to get them pointing back in the right direction

Well the people who where behind the original Palm Pilot and Treo are still with the company so I agree they can turn things around, let's hope they do

albenzing is on a distinguished road
Your list of needed improvments is right on the money... scary to think about how long it might take to develop these features. It would be nice to think Palm is already on top of it and soon to release a fine machine - but I doubt it.

I've been using a Treo 650, which has been a fine device, but it's getting long of tooth and am getting desparate for a replacement. My provider is Cingular/ATT and they don't have anything with the Palm OS that runs with their 3G network. It's looking more and more like I'll be forced down the Win OS path, just to get a comparable device with higher speeds. This will be at the expense of losing out on some great 3rd party apps. GRRRRRR...

Palm can and should be doing better! Thanks for ringing their bell.

Al
