![]() | I don't seem to be as techy as most of you but I am curious. My hubby and I keep having the discussion on what phone/PDA he should get next. He used to have the Treo650 (which is MINE now and he can not have) then his company bought him a BB that he does not like at all espeically the toggle wheel. Going from touch screen to toggle he said is tough. I agree....I hate it when he wants me to look something up on the internet on his phone. YUCK!! Anyway, his company is giving him the option to pick what ever phone he wants. He is currently thinking about the BlackJack but it has the toggle wheel on it but he likes some of the features it has. Do you think that the Treo700 could compete? |

![]() ![]() ![]() | The Blackjack runs Windows Mobile Smartphone edition which is the cut down version whereas the 700w/wx/750 run Windows Mobile Pocket PC Edition. One of the main differences between the two is Smartphone edition doesn't support touch screens. If he wants a phone with a touchscreen then he's looking at the Treo 700w/wx/750 or one of the HTC phones. If it doesn't need to be Windows Mobile based then there's the Treo 700P or Sony Erricson P990i. You say his company has given him the option of any phone but are their any restrictions to that?

![]() | It has to be an approved phone by his company which is pretty much any phone that has his companies chip, TriQuent Semiconductor, in it. They are moving away from the BB due to sever issues and no one likes the phones. He primarly uses it for e-mail when traveling, calendar, contacts, MP3 player, internet and text messaging. Currently the CEO is using the blackjack. Our service is with Cingular/ATT (don't get me started on that thread!). |

| A Few Questions.... ![]() | All of the above has a ring of truth to it. I have the 700W (Yes Windows Mobile 5) A purist I am not.. Having said that, I have had the Palm first with the Tungsten, and then the 700P . Since my COmpany works with windows, they wanted me to get a Windows based OS. I am glad I did. This 700W is amazing! I have allthe bells and whistles I need (although I till hunt for new Apps .This unit keeps me on time, on schedule and ON the Ball!,,, ![]() My only negative call is the thickness of the Treo. While I realize that the width is due to the touch-screen format, I would like the same Treo environment with a Blackjack or Q measurement. I am quite confident that Palm will indeed meet this requirement( and more) very shortly. I shall be waiting in the wings and will try to be the first in line for the "new" Treo> Does anyone know if this wish list item will be realized soon? |

![]() ![]() ![]() | I wouldn't be surprised if we see an even thinner Treo this year. It won't be as thin as the blackjack though. |

![]() ![]() ![]() | One thing we do know is Palm are taking more control over the design of their products and using more than one manufacturer, up until now they've relied a great deal on HTC. What that means as far as new products is not known yet but it's certainly a positive sign ![]()

| A Few Questions.... ![]() | I have said it before and I'll say it again.:While I love my Treo 700W (Yes...Windows) ..My only request would be a thinner , sleeker look. I have seen the newer Treo, but it is still a little to wide for my taste. I realize that the width of the Treo 700W is directly related to the Touch Screen. I do like the Touch Screen Advantage, so until Palm can offer a thinner Treo WITH Touch Screen I will continue to cuddle up to my Treo 700W.. Thanks The Writer......... |

![]() | I retired last year. We were one of the first in the area to install a Lotus Notes BES Server and it worked great. Soon everyone in the company had to have a Blackberry. We went through many generations of the Blackberry devices. The company started issueing them to most of the employees and Blackberry and T-Mobile were both getting richer from us. Many of the traveling employees started leaving their laptops at home unless they needed it for a presentation as they could now get their email anywhere without having to dial in and connect to the corporate network. After I retired I wanted something like it, but not the Blackberry. I decided on and got a Treo 680 and it does so much more than the Blackberry ever did. One great feature of the Blackberry was the battery life. I charge my Treo every night and did not have to charge the Blackberry that often but that is not a problem. At night I still have around 50% battery life on my Treo as I installed all the updates and did the battery conditioning. I also bought a Seidio 1300 mAh battery and have been using that. I keep the original battery charged but so far have not had to change to it at any time. I agree, Blackberry for Corporate, Treo for personal use. We never had any problems with the Blackberry. |
