The new Kinoma player (version 4) will allow for flash clips, like those from youtube, to be played on any Palm OS 5.x device. Also, if you do a search for flash on the forum, you can find some other interesting information.

I'm betting they won't. Would not be powerful enough to make a real difference.

Not to mention that a camera flash is a MAJOR drain on battery power.

How? It isn't as if the flash stays on at all times, it flashes for a moment while taking the picture. I had a camera on my previous phone and I could go for days without charging.
As long as you aren't taking pictures all day long, battery drain shouldn't be an issue.
Besides, if you're taking pictures all day long, you need a camera not a camera phone.

I agree with both of you. Camera flash is historically a battery hog, but with the advent of LED lights and advances in camera technology, I think the short flash could be of little battery-drainage-consequence.

Definitely need a flash for the camera.

I have a JVC camcorder that has a LED light for "night shots", and it adds a surprising amount of light for what seems to be a little light. I'm halfway tempted to carry around one of those little LED flashlights just for the occasional night shot.

In the future, I hope to see built-in flash. But for those with current no-flash smartphones, I have an idea. Someone should make a smart card adapter flash. Something that fits into the smart card slot and provides a light, constant or flash. At least then you'd only have to carry an extra little card around instead of some other type of portable light.

Additionaly, the addition of an empty slot to carry an extra SD card around would be a cool addition to the Treo. Heck, it could even be a live expansion slot.

Seems though that with memory technology advancing at the speed it is, it won't be long before we don't even need cards....
