![]() | All the older BB were like the older Palms. The did not come come stock with D2G. You had to buy it and pit it on them. The Storm comes with D2G already installed out of the box. I would think that with the wider screen, viewing PDFs would be a much nicer experience than on a Treo. PDFs were always painful to view on my Treo. Hopefully Palm will step up with Vova and get a bigger screen device. |

| Junior Member ![]() | First off.....thanks to everyone for their feedback on this topic. I played around with the Storm for a few minutes yesterday, but more importantly was able to ask many questions with a Verizon tech: The Storm does have Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and PDF capability. Tethering is possible and simple for a low monthly cost. GPS has a low monthly additional cost. The screen looks amazing and video over Internet is as good as a computer. The physical size is thinner than a 700p, but the screen is as large as the whole 700p unit. Overall, it looked like the Storm was only barely larger than the 700p, but thin. This is no Centro equivalent in terms of size.....it's larger. On the Con side: No sync is available for documents (at least not with the standard software). I'm sure a 3rd party solution is either available or forthcoming, but it needs to be stated. My company uses Verizon and so far, I've been a positive voice for them. Our service is really good. We've not had great luck with Windows-based Treos, but the Palm-based Treos have been excellent. Until further discussion ensues....I'll leave my real thoughts on BB: There is no way I would acccept using a smartphone that does not have a touchscreen (I cannot stress this point enough). MS Office compatibility is a must. I simply like the way my Treos have treated me and the performance/features have usually exceeded BB devices. I'll get more time to play with the Storm once one of our execs gets a demo phone for a few weeks. Thanks again for the informative discussion!

![]() | Yea the no wifi thing is a big downer. To me the ms office compatibility just doesn't equate to actual ms office, although open office looks like the closest I've seen. No mobile app that I'm aware of. I'll be sticking with winmo, and since my beloved treo wont be an option it will probably be the samsung saga unless an even better winmo device arrives with VZW. By the way the Saga does have wifi. Does the discussion of switching to another device seem blasphemous on this forum? I know it gives me the squirms..... I won't be doing any switching for months though, unless the wx dies.

![]() | You know, Here's the thing about choosing between the Storm and other devices. It comes down to what you use it for. If you are really into the multimedia applications the Storm rocks. If you use the office apps winmo is better. Because of windows live the email competition is more or less a push (excuse the pun, I kill myself sometimes). The Storm looks really great, but if you like to customize winmos got the edge. Niether is the end all be all, but I would LOVE to see the device that is. Though VZW would probablytake a flier on that one too.....

Just get the PDF software for your BB. Besides, when I say there isn't anything a Treo could do that a BB cant, I am referring to real Treos; the ones running Palm OS. WinMo is a totally separate creature. | |

![]() | I would call the Palm OS Treos the originals, but to say the winmo treos aren't "real" treos is a stretch. I think the point was that the BB's haven't joined the ranks of the pocket pc. You can dabble in it with the BB, but gettin it done requires a treo.
