DA's are very convenient. I don't use them currently on my Centro (still adding software little by little to avoid or troubleshoot resets and crashes) but I used them all the time on my Sammy i500. They basically allow you to access some or all functonality of one app without leaving the one you are in

Example, you are using web mail and get an email about a party. Normally you would have to copy/paste or write down the details, go to calendar and put in the date, then go back to Blazer. There is a DA for entering appts so you just bring up the DA with either the command bar or some other function and you get a dialog box kind of thing with the app right over the top of Blazer. Input the appt click OK and the box clears, the appt goes to calendar and you are right back where you were in Blazer. There is an app called Accessorizer that can turn any app into a DA. I would be careful using it but I have heard of people turning the messaging app, calendar or anything into a DA with success. There are DA's already out there with small memory profiles that do things like look up contacts in your phone book, enter appointments, let you change the screen timeout on the fly, etc.
