![]() | Problem with Applications hard key...? Howdy all, With Treos/Palm PDAs I've had in the past, when the screen was "sleeping", a quick press of the 'Home' button, would wake up the device directly in the applications launch screen. But for some odd reason, my Centro doesn't do that. If my Centro is "sleeping", and I hit the 'Home' hard key, my screen wakes up (with Keyguard displayed), but on my main 'Phone' screen. This only happens, if my Centro went to sleep while left on the main 'Phone' screen. If it went to sleep on any other screen, it quickly wakes up on the applications launch screen. That's 3 key presses to get to my applications launch screen vs. 2. Nitpicky I know, but... Any ideas? |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Hiya Backcountry! Yes, your PDA will wake up in the phone app if it went to sleep there. Furthermore, if you reset your Centro, it will activate in the phone app. The Keyguard is what keeps it from going to the launcher, when you hit the home key. The Keyguard is fairly essential to keep the device from activating while keys are accidently hit while sitting in a holster or purse. There is a freeware app called PhoneSwitch that will switch the device to a predetermined app, once you are done with the phone (which obviously could be the launcher). That would take you down to two keystrokes, but that is the best I can do. You can disable the keyguard, but I would recommend against it. Stu |

![]() | Weird. On my 755p, which should be pretty much the same, hitting the home key from "sleeping" always brings it back to the launcher. But Stu's idea for using PhoneSwitch seems to be the best option if what you are seeing is expected behavior on your Centro. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Jason, You are right, on the 755p pressing the Home key always brings you to the launcher (although you still have the keyguard to press through). Not sure why it works that way on the Centro, or if it just works that way on some Centros. Anyone with a Centro whose experience is different? |

![]() | Hi backcountrymedic, There may be an issue with your Centro. If my Centro is "sleeping" (from any srceen), and I hit the 'Home' hard key, my screen wakes up (with Keyguard displayed), then when I hit the Center button (Keyguard) it wakes up on the 'Home (applications launch)' screen.

![]() | Hmmm... Wonder if it might be an issue with my Centro. I've had several Palm branded PDA's, including Treos, and as described, regardless of what screen was displayed when my phone went to "sleep", it would launch (w/Keyguard) on whatever button I pushed - home, phone, messaging, etc. Not quite a big enough problem to send it back though. I hate to download a 3rd party app just to solve this tiny problem. Guess it'll just have to be a matter of habit. Thanks all for your replies! |

![]() | Odd, I have a Centro and I can get it to got to the launcher without turning keyguard off... the only things I have added is SOnTime, which I just disabled and warm reset, and it still works as your 755p. As much as I would hate to do it, I could wipe the whole thing and try it again. (searches for copy of Java VM for palm again) |
