![]() | HI All, I hate to ask yet another email question but as I Centro noob (Palm for that matter) I've searched and can't really find a suitable answer to my issue. I've tried using at&t Xpressmail and it sends/receives just fine but I cannot get Versamail to send email. It's receives OK. Here is the configuration for Xpress: ![]() I think the problem lies in the fact that Versamail doesn't have a setting that specifically states "Use SMTP Authentication" but rather "Use Authentication (ESMTP) I'm not exactly sure what ESMTP is but could this possibly be the issue? The version of Versamail that came on my Centro is 4.0.1. Is there a newer version available? Is there a better email program that some of the seasoned "nauts" would recommend to a noob? Thanks! |

![]() ![]() ![]() | Welcome to Treonauts first and foremost. Next, Versamail is updated but for the Sprint Centro. AT&T may already come with the newest update. What e-mail are you trying to use, yahoo, msn etc.? |

![]() | Thanks for the warm welcome! The email is a personal POP email that my brother (the computer geek) runs. I'm not sure who hosts it... |

![]() | Hello n7slc, I am new to Treonauts myself. Welcome and enjoy your stay. ESMTP in VersaMail equals SMTP Authentication. Make sure that you pick the right port if it is not 25. For example gMail uses 465. You may or may not need SSL. If you have a desktop email program like Outlook you could look at the account settings and just duplicate them on your Centro.

![]() | Thanks Andreas. The settings that you can see in the picture I posted are the settings directly from my Outlook program and they work just fine in the AT&T Xpressmail program but not in Versamail...sigh. |

![]() | n7slc, Do you have problems sending or receiving email? What happens if you select “Test Settings”? You could also setup a Gmail account and test the settings and isolate the problem. Gmail allows you to have POP or IMAP so you could check both settings. If you give me your email address I can send you a Gmail invite.

![]() ![]() | welcome to treonauts n7slc. Glad you are here with us. I have a 750 w wm6 so I'm not really up any more on the palm os but have you tried using the esmtp with the same settings and see if it works. Did you set it up and then hit the button test settings it will send you an email to outlook if the settings work. |

communications to the server were good but when I tried to actually send email it chokes. Really strange. I tried the Google alternative but it still doesn't work. Odd. | |

![]() | Just found this one in the VersaMail manual: IMPORTANT For most email providers that support SSL, you must select SSL for both incoming and outgoing mail. If you select just one or the other, your messages cannot be sent or received successfully. I have also heard that rebooting (taking the battery out of the device for a moment) your Centro has worked for some users with VersaMail issues. FYI Gmail has changed the Outgoing Port to 465 (old 587 in VersaMail)
