Centro self connecting to the Sprint - Treo Forum

I've set up my email to send/receive from Yahoo! Everything is working well but every 6 - 7 minutes my Centro chimes and I see a network connection has been established without any action on my part.

I've checked the following things:

1. No activity of any sort in the Versamail activity log.
2. Auto Sync is not checked.
3. "Alert me of new mail" is not checked.
4. Using Mail type: IMAP, SSL for incoming is not checked, SSL for outgoing is not checked but ESMTP is checked.
5. No messages in any of the mail folders. (I've cleared them all out.)

Any ideas what I may be overlooking?

(Sorry if this is a simple question but I've searched the forums, read the VersaMail manual and google'd for answers but have not found any thing that may guide me to this.)

Luckily due to the advice from yesterday I did download NetworkDown and am able to terminate the connection to avoid unnecessary battery drain.

well joking remark at times that computers have a mind of their own and its schizophrenic and now maybe its true. On the other hand theres is probably a setting youre missing that s causing it. I have a 750 w wm6 so I cant help.

Do you get any error messages or a message that says your device is updating Vision Profile?

Nope. No error message or notifications that the device is updating. Naturally when I have the phone in flight mode it does not establish a connection but minutes after I put it back in active phone mode it chirps and shows the connection arrows over the signal bars. Still no activity in the VersaMail activity log either. It seems like either a program is polling something on the network or something is being pushed down to the phone. It's also odd that the phone chirps since I've gone to my Preferences/Sound Alerts and set my messaging to Vol=Off, Vib=Never and Msg tone=No Sound. I think I've covered all the logical places. My last option I guess would be to reset the phone to see if some setting is not taking for some reason.

Have you used Sprint Mobile Mail at all? If so that may be auto connecting.

) I had not launched Sprint Mobile mail at all but I guess when I set up my Versamail it saw my Yahoo! connection and ran with it. I just checked the Mobile Mail preferences and both "push messages to my device" AND "audible notification" were both checked as it's defaults.

Thanks so much LotusLord for solving this mysterious situation. My cubemates will also be happy that my phone will stop it's audible notification every 6 - 7 minutes. (I had it buried in my messenger bag but they could still hear it!)

Something similar had happened to another Treonaut, and I somehow remembered it.

Good job, LL. Makes perfect sense...happening at a prescribed interval...of course its an email app. Dang...missed that one.
