Buy unlocked Centro - Treo Forum

Hello.

I'm traveling to NY this week and I would like to buy a Palm Centro. As I'm Spanish I would like to know if it's possible to buy an unlocked and international edition of Centro.

And the second, obvious, question is in which shop?

I haven't found this info yet through Internet, so any help will be appreciated.

welcome to treonauts brainscan. Glad you are here dont have a centro and not sure they have an unlocked centro out yet. You could get the att and unlock it for use in non att territory. I am not really liking the white att with the green keys but they are coming out with a black one soon and other colors are coming soon as well and rumor has it that t mobile is going to have one. The unlocked version is not available in the US yet, at least not directly from Palm. Depending on how long you're in New York you might be able to order one from an online retailer who is importing them from the UK.

There are several listings on ebay for unlocked att centro's at present if you are interested. I just checked!

Thanks for the info. As I can see, I'll have to buy it in Spain, because we use a different cellular system (GSM) and the cellular sold there won't work in Spain (but Spanish cellulars work in USA).

I wanted to know if there were sold cellulars for "overseas" (as some things I saw in Japan).

In Spain they use GSM, but in the US we use both GSM and CDMA. AT&T and Tmobile are GSM in the states, FYI BrainSCAN.

Taken from Palm's spec page for the AT&T Centro

Quote:

Basically an AT&T Centro works with any GSM carrier in any country so it should work fine in Spain

A Sprint Centro is CDMA and that would not work.

Thanks, great information. I used my european mobile in NY, so I knew that GSM worked there, but didn't know that GSM cellulars where sold.

Do you know if I can connect two bluetooth devices at the same time to the Centro (handsfree and GPS)?
