It was written for older Palm devices. It will work on the 755p and the Centro, but it can cause crashes/resets. I had it on mine for a time, and had a few resets, although not anything major. I also use Power Hero as suggested by Pete. There are some other freeware apps out there that monitor the battery, but I can't recall any of them off the top of my head.

BlankReg will become famous soon enough
I use Power Hero as well - definitely helps manage the meager battery life of my 680. Other applications I can't live without: Volume Care, Passwords Plus, Patience (gotta love 24 different versions of solitaire in one free app), TakePhone and DateBk6.

and...

NVBackup. This free app has saved my skin several times. No Treo/Centro user should be without this or some other backup utility.

About working with pdf's. I bought the Centro because I understood I could edit pdfs, work with word docs, etc... granted it would never replace my notebook, but I thought it would be fun to have a phone that has "editing to go." I work with Adobe Acrobat 8, Word, Word Perfect, Microsoft Publisher. I purchased the 4 gig card to carry all my apps and data. Okay, I just bought the Centro yesterday, barely have my phone numbers in it, didn't add the media package because I generally work from home and I have all the email/internet stuff I need right here. Thought I would add media package later if I find I can't live without it. Just needed a cell phone and loved the idea of working on my documents on my phone if I found myself out with some time on my hands.

So, am I dreaming, or can I REALLY do more than just store and READ documents. Can I load my apps on the 4 gig card and expect them to run on my Centro? I'm thinking NOT, but then, how else would I get to edit, etc... ??

I may be getting ahead of myself since I've barely got this phone out of the box, but any jumpstart advice is greatly appreciated. I'm really a writer, but I'm also a "wanna be geek" - seems I have a long way to go, huh?

Thanks -
Shadow

Docs To Go will allow you to edit Word, Excel and Powerpoint documents and I believe convert them to PDF. You can't install the software from your laptop onto the Centro if that's what you mean, but most Palm OS apps can be installed and run from the SD card.

Docs2Go will allow you to do Word documents and the full version (I can't recall whether the Centro comes with the full version) will allow you to do PowerPoint and Excel as LL said. However, for PDFs I would recommend PalmPDF (freeware). It has a small memory footprint and works much quicker.

Hi Shadow,

I can also tell you that I've worked with WordPerfect in Docs to Go and they work fine.

Instead of using a third party app couldn't you just mask or hide a file? That is one of the features I really enjoy about palm.

Well, as a fan of Resco products I'm listing Resco Suite= my beloved apps
Resco Explorer - don't need to explain
Resco Backup - don't need to explain neither
Resco Neeews - Rss reader, read feeds, blogs, watch images, listen to podcasts
Resco IDGuard - similar to SplashID, but supports attachments as well
Resco Photo Viewer - built in viewer? forget it
and Resco Sudoku - well, I'm still not that good in it, so...

the list of would also include chatter, blazer, google maps, tcmpm, butler
