| A Few Questions.... ![]() | Pimp my Centro So I've just ordered a Centro, and I need to know what to install to get the most out of it. Currently, I'm looking at using: - Opera Mini latest beta - Treolauncher (seems like it offers everything I want in terms of customizability, and zlauncher looks really complicated; is this good?) - Little John for playing NES/etc roms. - TCPMP (I think I heard that this was the best media player for PalmOS, is that true?) What else should I use? Or what should I use that's better than the stuff in that list? Help me out! |

![]() ![]() | As for the launcher, definitely load a trial first and use it a while to see if you like it. You're right about Zlauncher - I tried it & thought it was too complicated. I'm currently using Initiate Pro (has voice launch capability) and I like it a lot. You might also want to look at Power Hero. It has some really great features that SAVES YOUR BATTERY LIFE. I highly recommend this! A must - NVBackup. A freeware backup program that lets you do manual or scheduled backups of your device to your SD card. It's saved my @$#% on a few occasions! Enjoy your Centro & Welcome to the forum! |

![]() ![]() ![]() | Welcome extarbags! So far this is what I have on the Centro: NVBackup, The best freeware app for backing up your phone. Keyshades, turns off all the lights, except for the back screen, with the use of your 3 button on the side. Hold it for one sec and it turns off the keyboard lights. I think this is a must because the 1150m/ah battery that comes with the Centro, just doesn't cut it. Minitones, to make your own ring tones using your own MP3s, a second must. Just be careful, you will eat up your space on your Centro if you make to many tones. Also, the MP3s must be on the SD card or it won't be read by the app. So far that is it. I install one app a day just to make sure it does not affect the functionality of the OS. |

![]() | I agree with jstant that a backup program is a must. Especially if you use your Centro on a daily. For my backup I use a program from Bluenomad caled BackupBuddy.netPro The cost is very minimal (I believe it is like $34/yr) for what it does for you. I have used the service for the last 2 years and always wondered if it was worth it. Well....one day I found out. I dropped my 650 one too many times and I could not accept or make phone calls due to some of the buttons stopped working. I ordered a new phone and it came the next day. I downloaded the "trial" version directly to my phone. It recognized my account and asked me if I wanted to restore and I anxiously said YES. It started to download 90 some different files. I set it down and came back to it about an hour later, mostly because I forgot about it. Boy was I surprised! Not only did it download my calendar, contacts, memos, it downloaded every single program, registered them to the new phone. It even changed my screensaver picture to what the broken phone had. It was the same exact phone except that this one has all working keys and no scuff marks. ![]() The also have a verson called BackupBuddyVFS that backups directly to your memory card. I opted not to use this in case I ever lost my phone. I now have no fear of ever losing my phone, or damaging it. You can also customize how and when it backups. It's worth checking into. |
