I read this earlier and then noted that when my centro was plugged in it actually IS charging... my treo needed another plug to charge, so I had not given it a thought. Noticed the light on today and looked at the battery icon to see it charging . Look at yours before buying a special cable - it might be charging already.

Now to voice control. There are a couple of applications that will do this, and some require only a one time fee. I don't know of any freeware versions, and none of them will work via bluetooth. You have to manually initiate them with a hard key on the device.

Not sure that's true my friend....if you get Softicks Audio Gateway with A2DP, you may very well get voice command over BT to work.

Okay, lets talk about Voice Control. Several months ago, I tried out several voice control apps and here is a summary:

1) None of the apps are perfect. They all, at some time or the other, will give you the rough equivalent at times to a "huh?" or bring up the wrong record.

2) Out of the ones I tried, Nuance was actually the best at recognizing your voice "out of the box." However, the long delay in connecting to the server (assuming it can) and retrieving the voice command, and the actual applying the command was tiresome. Similarly, the monthly fee was no fun either.

3) VoiceDialIt was the best, pay once and then use it Voice Command app that I tried. However, the issue here is you have to invest a considerable time upfront "training" the app to recognize your voice's specific commands. Nevertheless, once you have it trained it is definitely servicable. Furthermore, I don't think I've ever found a time when VoiceDialIt wasn't on sale somewhere (usually between $15.95 and $17.95).

Your comment is generally correct regarding bluetooth except for a couple sidebars. First, some carkits allow for a certain amount of voice commands. This is kind of a workaround the whole issue of bluetooth. Second, I recently read an article on another forum, that gave kind of a convoluted way to get bluetooth voice commands to work. Update: I just spent 10 minutes trying to find that article...I thought it was on MTDN, but I can't find it anywhere, even using the search commands. Maybe I just imagined it in a dream. LOL

Kinoma Player does come on the Centro, tho you only see it if you start to play a video.

BTW: does anyone know if it can be updated?

Yes. Kinoma can be updated on the Centro. In fact, there is some rather elaborate way in the stock Kinoma, of accessing a discount code for the full version. Of course, the stock one will be in ROM and the update will be in RAM.
