![]() | I have tried to hotsync to my home pc without actually completing it. It seems to get stuck on step two aka synchronizing the calendar step. =( Here's what I've already tried. Restarting the computer Hard reset on the phone Going through the Palm program on my pc to start syncing instead of just hitting the big button on the USB connector cable Making sure the HotSync icon is in the bar at the bottom of my pc I hotsync to my home pc and to the one I have at work without any prior problems. It just seems to have decided it didn't want to work tonight. Thanks for any suggestions. t. |

![]() | I just unistalled and then reinstalled the software on my pc. When I went to HotSync, it got stuck in the same spot...on my pc it says "synchronizing date book" and on the phone it says "synchronizing calendar" and that's as far as I get. I will gladly try any other suggestions. Thanks again. t. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Hi Theresa, You may have a corrupted database in your calendar. Try going into your Hotsync into Applications and then Configure. Set the calendar / datebook to do "nothing." Then Hotsync again and see if it goes through all the way. If it does, then go back into Hotsync and set Calendar / datebook to "synchronize the files." Then run Hotsync again. If it stops on Datebook again, download a trial copy of DBFixIt and run it on the PIM data and see if you get any errors. If it shows errors, you will have to buy the software to get the activation code in order to repair the corruption. Best wishes. Stu

![]() | Ok so I did that and of course I was able to hotsync, but got the message that it failed to backup one file and that was "PmTraceDatabase" and "Protocol Error: Handheld file could not be opened. (4004) SYNCERR_FILE_NOT_OPEN" ...what is this? Still working on the DbFixIt thing. Thanks for all your help. t. |

Protocol Error Handheld file could not be opened. (4004) SYNCERR_FILE_NOT_OPEN The solution: 1.. Launch FileZ or Resco Explorer and tap on view and edit files 2. Open the internal folder and tap pmtracedatabase and put a check mark next to it 3. Tap details 4. Tap on the "Attrs" tab 5. Uncheck the box next to backup 6. Click Save 7. Sync

![]() | First off, thanks to you for trying to help, I feel like a fool for not being able to figure this out. Earlier this afternoon, following Stu's advice, I hotsynced after unchecking the Datebook application and setting it to "do nothing" in HotSync Manager it worked. Now tonight when I try to sync up again (Datebook still on "do nothing") it gets stuck on that step 2 Syncing Calendar/Date Book. It's still an unchecked application in the manager program, and tonight it's trying to sync the calendar and getting stuck. I mean stuck so bad, that I can't even cancell out of it. So then the battery comes out of the phone to get out of the hotsync jam, and on the computer I have to go to the task manager and exit that way. So with all this said...I would love to try and run DBFixIt or Resco Explorer but to get it to my phone, I have to sync up to my computer...I don't have a data plan. Is this a problem with the phone or with my computer? I've already tried the uninstall/reinstall Palm on my computer (jfa02 idea) and that didn't work...and don't know where to turn to now. HELP =( t. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Theresa, Make sure your Hotsync didn't default back to syncing. After you sync once with it set to nothing, it will usually default back to the sync settings. It shouldn't hang if it is set to do nothing. Sorry you're having such bad luck with it. BTW, use FileZ, instead of Resco Explorer, because its freeware. Stu

![]() | So, I finally got tired of dealing with it and went to Palm and had a techie guy walk me through a DB Scan and found a Blob in it (whatever this is) and when all was said and done it seemed to have fixed the problem. So, I now have on my phone DB Scan, Filez, and NVBackup...but I have one more question before I let the horse finally die. What is the difference (which one is better) Filez or the Files software program offered by Palm as a download...I guess I'm asking which should I keep because I don't think I need both? Thanks all for everything! t. |
