dbScan 1.9j

Application Description

dbScan fixes Datebook DB errors. It now also fixes some known bugs in all PIM databases on newer PalmOne Devices (Deleted Records can hang the Palm Conduit). It also finds corrupt Task records written by the EasySync conduit for Lotus Notes. If corrupt records are found, they can be removed. This utility will be especially useful to people using new or beta versions of conduits or application programs that enter or modify data in the datebook database.

Updated Description:

V-1.9j adds check for corrupt Task entries due to bug in EasySync conduit for Lotus Notes. Also allows removal of deleted records which can hang up the Palm conduits or cause endless DmWrite errors when accessing a PIM database.

Strange. Just downloaded the 'J' update and installed it (after deleting the previous version). Now it has disappeared! I can see it hiding when I use FileZ but it doesn't appear on my screen. What am I missing? What should "Attributes", etc, be set to?

Nope, nothing I have done so far brings it to my screen. dbScan is only 42kb and I have 3.4 MB left. (I'm sure it's there somewhere because FileZ tells me it is!)

Bingo!

I reinstalled the old version of dbScan, then downloaded the new version marked "dbScan 1.9j" from the link. Installed it - and there it was, back on my screen. Except the version is now "2.0b".

Someone else will have to "explain" what happened.

You have to have the main application for it to show up on your treo. The updates are then downloaded and installed on top of the previous app!

But the "update" version on the site IS the "current version" that is being distributed, isn't it? If someone had never had this app installed on their Treo, it would be the 1.9J (actually 2.0B) zip or prc file that they would download to install (it's not like adding a plug-in to Photoshop). That's what I did and it just would NOT appear on the screen as an installed application - UNTIL...I reinstalled the old one I had archived and then installed the 2.0B version on top of it.
.
.
.
.
.
.and....now I am having the same problem reinstalling VoiceDial!

My original version somehow disappeared, so I downloaded the current version. No problem. Everything downloads and syncs as it should. Then, when I tap on the icon "VoiceDialInstaller", a screen appears with all the legal mumbo-jumbo, I tap "Agree" and the installer icon simply disappears!
