![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Clean Slate I figured I would post this here. Exactly what the title says, my Treo 755 has a clean slate. I am going to run down my way of doing it in hopes of helping those who have problems with buggy applications. Or, just having ghost files left over from removing files and such. First thing I did was to locate and write down all of my registration numbers for my applications. After locating the registrations, I performed a backup using my "most favorite" application, NVBackup. Next, I located and moved my Backup up folder from its location. For me it was C:documents/Treo/Backup When I say backup folder I am talking about the one created on your desktop when a hotsync is performed. Then I made sure that I had my security password in place. According to Palm's website and thanks to Stu, by having a security password you will reformat "zero out" the Treo. Then I did my hard reset. After my Treo restarted, I hotsynced my Treo so that a new backup folder is created. Then I began to install my most important applications. I did it one application at a time. Yes, time consuming, but in my mind I made a clean install without any apps fighting for space. BTW, do a clean install, don't use applications from the backup folder. Doing this will ensure there is no corruption of any database or applications. I did grab some .db for my checkbook and Planner. But nothing else. Now, after installing my apps and re-registering them, I performed a backup with NVBackup. This was a new Backup and I did not overwrite the old one. Why? Just in case things went a muck I would be able to get my Treo back the way I had it before. How is my Treo? I went from having 10mb of space to 52mb of space. Snappy, very responsive and the keyboard flies when I type. If you are like me and love to test out every application out there, then this process, while long and intensive, will clean up your Treo and give you a fresh start. I hope I wasn't to confusing and I tried to get to the point. Last edited by comiken205; 08-08-2008 at 02:37 PM. |

![]() | Thanks for posting this. I've been wanting to do this on my 680 for a while now. Do you know how to capture the customizations in TAKEphONE and the Palm favorites (the star tab on the Palm Phone application)? Thanks!

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I have never used TAKEphone. If you use a backup program look for the .db of the application. As for the Favorites, I didn't bother trying to locate the file. It is easy for me to go back and get that back onto my phone favorites. As a matter of fact, I wouldn't know which file to look for to be honest with you. |
