Issue With Hotsync

After a Hotsync, this is the error I get:

PM Trace Database
Protocol Error: Handheld file could not be opened. (4004)
SYNCERR_FILE_NOT_OPEN


Any suggestions as to what might be causing this error?

I am on a 755P Running Windows Vista Home Premium 32bit and yes, I downloaded the latest Vista compatible Palm Desktop Software from the Palm website.

Sounds like the PM Trace Database on your 755p somehow got corrupted.

Protocol Error
Handheld file could not be opened. (4004)
SYNCERR_FILE_NOT_OPEN
If your Hotsync comes back with messages every time informing you that there were errors, this is usually it. The solution, however, is relatively easy to fix:
1.. Launch FileZ or Resco Explorer and tap on view and edit files
2. Open the internal folder and tap pmtracedatabase and put a check mark next to it
3. Tap details
4. Tap on the "Attrs" tab
5. Uncheck the box next to backup
6. Click Save
7. Sync

Its a common problem with Hotsyncing with Vista and sometimes XP desktops.

At Frist i was going to say there is no treo SYNC software for vista, but i will try to lookup some trobleshooting steps for you. Thats if you still can't get it to work.
