![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | welcome to treonauts jthomas 119. You might try uninstalling the 6.2 beta and reinstalling and see if that helps. On the other hand did it give you are error code of any sort? |

![]() ![]() | Put me down for a nightmare in trying to get the new Palm Desktop for Vista working. Downloaded the installer to my Vista (32 bit) Intel Core Duo notebook and the install went well. I backed up my Palm Treo 700p with NVBackup and a 4GB SD card for safety and then attempted to do a first sync. The connection was made and things have bogged down to a stall while attempting to "Synchronize Calender" (so says the Treo screen) and Datebook according to the new install of Palm Desktop. I let it run all night last night yet by morning the progress bar was in the same place an my docked Treo still on and canceled out and tried again ... stalling in the same place. Uninstalled the Desktop software from my PC and reinstalled attempting again. Same hanging on sync. Did a Hard reset and proceeded to try ... same problem. Used NVBackup to recreate the Treo 700p and then even tried to reinstall the old Palm Desktop from CD ... hanging at "Synchronizing Calendar" in attempts to get things functioning back to the way they were before the update. Any advice as its not working. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I had the same issue. Evidently the change in desktops corrupts some calendar data for some of us. Not sure why. What I did to fix it, was to purchase DBFixit. Ran it and it fixed it right away. The problem though, is that after purchasing DBFixit, you have to wait another 12 hours before Pimlico sends you an activation code. By the way, DBFixit is free to diagnose issues in PIM databases as well as other databases. Another possible solution is a free app from Hobbyist Software called "Fix Databases." I tried that first, but it reset my 755p. Good luck! Stu |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Rich, I had a couple additional thoughts. First, you can Hotsync everything else but the calendar, until you get that fixed. You just have to go into the Hotsync menu, hit applications, then uncheck the Date Book box. Second, after you get DBFixit and run it, make sure to set your first Hotsync, for the handheld to overwrite the desktop. Then everything should work well. Stu |

![]() ![]() | Stu and all, I was able to get the sync working by "not syncing" the calendar. Once the first sync worked, the rest were fine. (although a Kinoma database file has generated a log) Rich |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Thanks for the update! Where there problems after Kinoma generated the log? Might be worth forwarding to them so they can stay on top of it.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Rich, Glad to hear you got it up and running. I tried syncing my T/X last night and had the same problem, so I'll try what you suggested and see if that fixes it. DBfixit is a great app, but I can't afford to pay $12.95 again. Stu |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I've heard a lot of Buttercups complaining about no Quick Install on the Vista Desktop. I found this today on another forum, and thought I would share it: quick install works the same way. it just isnt its own icon. it is integrated into the desktop. if you have .prc files to open on the desktop with the same quick install, it will load it on double click, but wont load entire palm desktop. the only change is there is no separate icon, though i am sure if you wanted to make one, you could. SO YOU WANT TO MAKE A SHORTCUT TO QUICK INSTALL? This is for all who have the new 6.2 1.) Open 'My Computer'. 2.) Choose the 'C:' drive or your local storage drive. 3.) Choose the 'Program Files' folder. 4.) Choose the 'Palm' folder. 5.) Scroll down until you find 'Instapp'. 6.) Right-click on 'Instapp' and choose 'Create a shortcut'. 7.) A new Icon should appear at the bottom of the folder called 'Shortcut to Instapp'. 8.) Right-click on it and choose 'Cut'. 9.) Now go back to your desktop and right-click on the screen and choose 'Paste'. 10.) You can rename the file by right-clicking and choosing 'Rename'. 11.) You now have your quick install Icon back. Remember, if you upgraded to the new version, you must close the quick install before you can hotsync. Credit for this post goes to some guy named Mike. Hope its helpful in making more buttercups happy. Stu |
