Sync with Treo 680 and Windows Vista Outlook

Help!

I have tried several times to synchronize between my Treo 680 and Outlook 2003 on my new Windows Vista laptop. It says that it is synchronizing everything but when I look at my contacts and calendar, nothing is transferred from my Treo. My Treo has all of my old contacts and calendar information. What am I doing wrong or is this not possible with Vista?

Thanks!
Chuck

Did you tell it to sync with Outlook instead of Palm Desktop?

Palm Desktop is not Vista Ready. From what I have read in the other threads on this forum, Palm needs to update their software for Vista.

My understanding was that it couldn't sync documents, but could sync email and tasks. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Palm Desktop versions 4.1.4e and 4.2 will install on Windows Vista and will synchronize Personal Information Manager (PIM) items including Calendar, Contacts, Tasks and Memos.

Other versions of Palm Desktop have not been tested with Windows Vista. You may be able to install and use other versions, but we cannot provide technical support for these installations.
Taken from this page on Palm's Knowledgebase.

What it doesn't say though is whether this is purely with Palm Desktop or with the Outlook conduit as well

I am not sure what version of desktop I am running, but I used the CD that came with my Treo. I also did specify to use the Outlook conduits. Also, I am using Outlook from an Exchange Server if that matters.

Thanks!

LotusLord,

I am not 100% sure what does and doesn't work. I will have to get back to you. TazUk has posted a quote and I am flummoxed on what will or will not work. I can tell you one thing. My XP on all my CPUs are working flawlessly. I won't be upgrading for a while. *I just jinxed my OS!*

As much as I like Vista, it just seems like it's not quite time to upgrade. I'll be duel booting XP and Vista after my next rebuild of my main system at home. I'll see what I can do. I'll try to play with everything between Vista and XP, and the 650 and 750.

Lets see if we can clarify everything.

Zaneta,

What version of Palm desktop are you using?

You can see if you have the PIM conduit sync option in the Palm folder from the start menu.

Go to start-all programs-Palm and look for PIM conduit sync. You can change the sync method using this option. If you don't see this, you will need to use the CD that came with your Treo to change the sync to Outlook.

There is an article on the Palm kb website regarding sync'ing with Outlook. Go to palm.com and in the upper right corner of the screen, in the search box, enter the following number; 25263.

Here is another article regarding changing the Hotsync conduits to Outlook.

26031Changing HotSync synchronization settings in Palm Outlook conduits.

Look in the settings and see if Outlook is listed in Parentheses
