There are several quality software apps that are completely free. The following are what I use in order of frequency.

1. Kmaps: poor man's GPS. Although sometimes my GPS software just can't find the place I'm looking for and Kmaps saves the day.
2. Dir Assist: If you know the name and just want to look up the number this software works best. If you are searching for types of businesses go with the aforementioned Kmaps.
3. Palm PDF (much better than Adobe's mobile app)
4. TCPMP (Watching video is simple as open and play)
5. FileProg (great for getting into the "guts" of internal and card memory)
6. KeyCaps (shortcuts for keyboard)
7. MiniTones: Play your MP3s as ringtones

Thanks joewilkins

Love kmaps!

Glad to see fileprog and TCPMP are in there. I've managed to find those on my own.

Downloaded TCPMP and found out that it doesn't support the Palm Treo 700p audio codec QCLEP. I've also downloaded a couple .mp4 clips and TCPMP will not play the audio for that one either. (MPEG4AAC audio decoder not supported)

Strange since the included Palm Pics & Videos software plays them fine but doesn't offer the best scrolling, etc.

Thoughts?

I'm trying to learn more about Kmaps, does it act like GPS and can tell me where I am or is it just like google maps and can give me directions?

Have you tried logging on the Treonauts website via your 755P? I usually log on via my Treo. You can do that and see if you can hit TazUk's link to be sent there.

What I do is download the apps to a webserver where I have space (which I have a folder link to on my desktop) in a drag and drop fashion. I then go to the web directory with my treo and download them straight to the phone. It's great for when I'm not carrying the syncing cable (it stays at home most of the time).
