GasBuddy.com

Anyone use the mobile version of this? I was thinking of giving it a try. It tells you where gas is the cheapest in your area. If I don't see any posts, by the end of the weekend, I'll have trialed it by then and will post the outcomes. In any event, I would encouarge people to check out the site as it definitely will save you money.

Well, I have attempted to use the wireless version (gasbuddytogo.com), but got mostly a blank screen. Similarly, when trying to map the gas prices, the map does not show up, when you simply go to gasbuddy.com. I was able however, to access info. by going to the home page, then clicking on my state, and then hitting my city. I also tested the ability to get the info via text message (gas@gasbuddy.com) and after waiting five minutes have still not received any response. If someone else has tried to access this site successfully, let me know anything I am missing. Thanks.

Stu

Hmmm...I'm not Stu, but I'm pretty sure he wouldn't like you paraphrashing.

@Stu: Thanks for the review. I actually hadn't even heard of the site, so I'll give it a try sometime this week. If you've used it again with any more success, let us know.

The site is great for finding out the best gas prices in your area. It would be better, however, if you could easily access it from your Treo. So far, I've only been able to get limited info that way. I have wrote an email to Support and explained the issues I was having. We'll see if I get any response. I'll get back with you all.

Hey Stu,
I have been using GasBuddy.com on my computer for about 4 years. My local version is actually www.miamigasprices.com. I have been using the mobile version GasBuddyToGo.com for about 4 weeks now and it seems to be working fine with reporting as well as getting prices.
Texting to gas@gasbuddy.com does not seem to work for me either.
Sending an email to gas@gasbuddy.com with the City/State or Zip/Postal Code as the body of the message gets me a list of the 5 lowest gas stations (regular gas price) in the area.

Thanks for the update, Eins! With gas prices skyrocketing, this site could be a big money saver for us Treo owners. I've tried all methods with no success, but that was when I wrote those posts. I'll try the email method again. I'll see if there is a local one here in Cincinnati too. I never did hear anything from GasBuddy regarding my previous emails to them.

Thanks to you both for having this discussion here. I had never heard of this before and am very thankful to have come across this.

I just tried accessing it from my computer and that worked well. I also sent the email and the text message and haven't received any info back from either just yet...but to be fair I just sent them a few moments ago.

I tried emailing them last night and never received a response. I wonder if it is the fact that I am emailing through AOL. Perhaps they aren't equipped to accept emails from there. I dunno.

I emailed via gmail, through versamail and still haven't received anything. Luckily it works fairly well via Blazer, so if need be I can fire it up and get the info that way while out and about. I noticed that some of the prices are replaced with a red "X," but it's ok with me because those places were toward the higher end...and so I wouldn't be buying gas from them anyway. lol The lower price end doesn't appear to suffer from this problem.

All in all, it works for me. Would be really nice if I could get the email and/or text message features to work though. But I am happy that I can at least access the info when on the go.
