Arrow PrettyMap: maps of Earth and other planets + geographical data

PrettyMap displays vector maps (consisting of points, lines or areas) and raster maps (terrain elevation and bathymetry, images and symbolic data). Vector maps contain additional attributes associated with each object (e.g. population data for each country). PrettyMap uses three kinds of views: "flat" 2D map view (with optional elevation relief), 3D projection and spheral projection. Maps are stored on your device or card, so no Internet connection is required.

Additional options include showing day and night regions; computing shadow length and sun/north orientation; various color schemes for elevation maps; user-defined elevation colors; data search for vector map attributes; versatile quiz with teacher mode for vector map attributes; distance measurement; adjustable water level for elevation data; current weather reports and forecasts; simple user-edited maps, and sessions to quickly save/restore program state.

Even the simplest application from the "PrettyMap" family, the recently released PrettyEarth, offers powerful tools for displaying and analyzing maps of Earth compared with existing geographical PDA programs.

You don't pay for PrettyMap maps – all of them are provided free, including
  • political: country boundaries with country names, capitals, population sizes, ...
  • major cities with names, status, population ranks and classes, ...
  • comprehensive set of data for each country, based on the current information from The World Factbook
  • and many more from http://www.prettymap.com/maps.html

PrettyMap is shareware and works on all PalmOS 5 devices. Download it from

Comparison of features of PrettyMap applications, as well as purchase links are available at

Maps and weather, cool, fix scrollbars?

Hi,

The screenshots are cool and PrettyMap is even more. Love the maps, especially those "very high resolution" rasters & elevation relief. And weather icons shown on the map look sweet on my Treo.

However, the UI could be more user-friendly. For example, I click the scrollbar arrow and hold it and it does not "repeat", I have to tap every time which is somehow tiring - is it possible that you fix it? OTAH, movable windows is an excellent idea!

Scrollbars fixed and better distance measurement

Hello unruly,

It is fixed in version 3.8 - all scrollbars work as expected. And there is a new, much nicer and more convenient window for measuring distances between locations

Get it from
