PhoneTechnician vs VolumeCare - Treo Forum

ok i have tried both of these apps over the last week......

in the end i went with PhoneTechnician for the volume boosting performance alone. now VolumeCare is way more elaborate as far as what in can do in this area, but i am talking about just the sound in my ear when the volume is boosted. in that area alone, PhoneTechnician creates a more natural sounding boost and that is what i wanted.

on top of that, PT also brings a few other little utilities to the table that make it more than worth the $14.95 cost.

I tried PT when I first got my Treo. It caused problems with the .mp3 ringtones. Maybe they've fixed it, but when I would get a call, it would continue to play, even after I answered the phone. I think it caused some soft reset problems also. Just too much of a hassel, so I deleted it and never went back.

Weird, I had all those problems with PT, but never have had any problem with Butler. Maybe I forgot to uncheck something or other.

i'm on day 3 with Technician and Butler. no problems whatsoever!

i use Technician for my mp3 ringtones as well.....works perfectly!

most likely it has been updated since then.

Which hardware are you guys using? Is it 650 or 700p?

I know that a friend of mine fried his treo 650 using volume care, it blew the speakers and I don't think he had it on full volume either.

I just recently tested VolumeCare Pro on my 700p and it was fine in the beginning. Then suddenly everything worked great EXCEPT when I tried to put a call in speakerphone mode... instead of it being easier to hear, it got harder. Fortunately, as soon as I deleted VC my speakerphone volume went back to normal. Very disappointing as I liked VC otherwise.
