I installed the DialByPhoto beta version a few days ago, and was excited about the potential that this new interface provides... Enough to actually make the purchase already!

I (like Princeair) also hope to see the tabbed interface of the 680 come to the 700p.

Since it sounds like tj8212 is representing the developer, I'd also propose a different way to indicate the photo currently selected - the current method applies a "shiny" quality to what is currently selected, which is a bit difficult to see. Perhaps you can also whiten the border surrounding the selected photo to make it less confusing?

Just a few thoughts.

Like the concept, expecting a lot of great developments.

Love the app, hope it extends!

Had to purchase the app after installing the demo...Has to be the sexiest looking app on palm to date, fits right in the the new pocket tunes. My only hope is that you can extend it further into the OS.

I would really like to see the call screen themed to with with the app. It sux to have the nice slick them on the main screen, only to default back to the ugly standard palm call screen. Is there anyway you guys can extend this further into the phone gui overtime? It's understandable that you can't theme the whole OS, but it would be nice to be able to have the same look and feel during calls, and maybe in soem of the default apps like the calendar, memos, todos!

Regardless, great job so far, and I look forward to seeing what else comes out of the Gx5 camp.

Thanks for your comments. Like you said, we will continue exploring how we can further extend DialByPhoto. However, much of what we can do will depend on what the Palm OS will let us do.

It is nice that the interface is sort of like a simplified, "pretty" launch screen... I like being able to see the next scheduled event, but is it possible to change the appointment launched?

I personally use Agendus Pro, and would love it if you could launch the Agendus app instead of the default Calendar/Appointments app. I'm sure that there are many DateBk5/6 users who'd love their app to launch from here as well...

Looking forward to updates soon.

I tried

I really love the concept, I do. I don't know whay palm did'nt allow us to customize the colors in the original app for example. I'd like to have a screen with more information like the one in the treos with Windows mobile 5 including the photo dial feature.
I tried this one, I'd like to see it grow, I coul'd almost buy it right away if I knew things are really gonna be better, but for the moment I had to uninstall it due to the programs I use.
For example, I use for contacts Agendus pro, for email chatteremail and all the info that this app tries to show you is taken from the apps that come natively with the OS. In my case from all the mails that I received none of them was registered by the program because I don't use versamail and when I wanted to see contacts i took me to the super boring contacts from palm. I think it should consider the interaction with other very popular apps.
It's just my opinion, and I leave it here because I really want to buy it and use it.
I hope you understand that there are thausands of treo power users that are disapointed with the looks or functionalities of some native apps, not because they are bad at all, but because they could have been clearly improoved, so we wait until some one seems to have what it takes to make this improovements and we ask almost the imposible.

Thanks.

Updated beta of DialByPhoto available...

A new Beta for DialByPhoto is available at:
http://www.gx-5.com/products/dialbyphoto/support.htm

I've installed it on my 700p, and have to say that I like how it is coming along; they have added "Search and Dial" (lookup of a contact by typing the first few letters in the DialByPhoto screen, just as can be done in "Contacts" screen...

I'm also happy to report that they've addressed the concern of the contacts selected not being clearly highlighted. Now, if they could simply do the same to indicate which of the buttons are highlighted (DialPad, Categories, Call Log or Contacts) in the Horizontal Links and Horizontal Links 2 Start Screens...

I hope that tj8212 still checks this forum and can pass this along... That, along with a request for Agendus and Agendus Mail support!

Hmm...I'd tried the product until the testing period was over. I liked it, but not enough to buy it..yet. This new build looks like it could use some more evaluation by me!!
