TomTom Navigator 6 Bundle Questions

Hello all... I have searched high and low, but can not seem to find answers to my last few questions about the TomTom Navigator 6 for the 700p.

1) Does the GPS receiver have an external antenna jack?
2) Can TomTom's maps be "browsed" when not navigating? I have a Garmin iQue 3600, and sometimes I like to just "view" the map for the area that I'm in, and "scroll" around the areas nearby.
3) If I get the $249. DVD bundle instead of the $299. SD Card included bundle, do I just copy or install the maps from the DVD onto one of my sufficient capacity SD Cards?

I thank everyone here. As mentioned, I've looked for answers to these final three questions, but can find them.

Thanks again,
Dewey

I have the TomTom installed
the GPS receiver connects via bluetooth and you can browse the maps when your not connected to the reciever. I have the SD bundle.

Steve is correct. GPS bluetooth connection to the Treo is 'fair.' I have trouble finding the device quickly or accurately. Sometimes it just doesn't 'find.' BT on the 700p isn't the greatest IMHO.

The 12volt power cord works great although the GPS rechargeable battery lasts a long time by itself. Having the extra charging plugin and 'outstanding' suction mount is a great way to keep your phone charged too.

Maps are ok for browsing while not connected, but there is room for improvement. Once you learn the touchscreen buttons, the software is easy to use.

The mini SD care works well plugged into my Treo 700p, but unfortunately transferring the software to my 2Gig or 4Gig card is a problem. (must be slow memory)

Hint: Move the "navstart.prc" from the miniSD card from the Palm folder to the Launcher folder inside the Palm folder so that the software doesn't start everytime you put the card into the Treo.

Bottom line -- is the TomTom worth the money? I would like to use my 700p for a nav unit (instead of purchasing a separtate unit).

I have a Garmin GPS 18 (USB) which I use on my computer ... it gives me more mapping landscape but isn't the easiest to use in a car.

The Treo 700p and Palm/Tom-Tom bundle works pretty well if you don't mind the small screen and occasional BT glitches when a phone call comes in. (am I the only one who fights to use a BT headset and run the GPS at the same time?)

Where does this unit fit in:

Palm Store - GPS Units: GPS Systems: PalmŪ GPS Navigator Smartphone Edition 3

I just registered my palm and I cen get an extra 20% off too. They also offer this unit:
Palm Store - GPS Units: GPS Systems: PalmŪ GPS Navigator Car Kit

But I would prefer not having to mount the phone up on the dash.

That's the bundle that I have ... and its great. (can't get a much better deal on a GPS IMHO) It comes with a mounting plate if you decide not to 'hang' it from the windshield. Just keep it somewhere where you can keep your eyes on the road.

BTW ... the turn by turn audio directions work pretty well too. (BT range is not super ...so keep the two paired up within a few feet.
