? treo software transfer to centro

I currently have a treo 680 and have debated getting a centro. If I purchase a centro, can I transfer the software I purchased for the treo to the centro or do I need to repurchase specifically for the centro? I think I need to repurchase software directly for the centro but I wanted to check before I actually purchase the centro. I hope this is where I am supposed to post thise question since it is not directly related to just one phone. Thank you.

The palm os software of the centro may be a slightly different newer version but the programs probably will work without incident except that your palmdevice id may be different and you might have to contact the software developer to get new licenses but I would not think you would have to buy new programs. If you get the centro and I would recomment that if you are going to stick with palm os as opposed to getting a windows mobile or webos device (not yet available here in the US for gsm networks). The 680 is eol'd or close to it on ATT.

Thank you. I know the centro and treo are very close to being the same phone. I was mainly thinking about the centro because it is smaller than my treo. Thanks for the information about the software licenses. I mainly want to stick with the palm os device because I am a teacher and have a lesson plan software and gradebook software that I use and do not want to change. I know there will be a point in time where I need to upgrade to windows mobile or the new webos device. I also have been holding out hoping att would come out with another palm device but they have not yet since they are my current carrier and I do not want to change that. Thank you for answering my question so quickly.

Well palm os is dead palm is not developing any more updates they are solely webos. Perhapsyour teacher apps will be ported over to webos or maybe would run on classic for the webos platform. My wife is a teacher also .

Unfortunately Palm OS is dead as jfa says. I doubt there will be much further development from 3rd party developers. That said, if you are happy with the software you have now, the Centro will support it (you may need to contact the developers to make sure there is a Centro compatible version), but most software that runs on the 680 will run on the Centro without issue.
