Opera Mini Issues

After much trouble shooting I finally got Opera Mini 4.2 to work on my treo... kind of.

Two questions:

1) Opera asks if it can use air time while it is connected... then it connects to t-zones for the internet. In my mind 'air time' means minutes... is Opera using minutes?

2) When I went to exit Opera mini by pressing the applications button it completely crashed the phone as if I performed a soft reset... ideas?

I think you are right do you have an unlimited data plan? I'd say as for number 2 that at the very least opera mini and your 680 are not playing together nice at all and theres a conflict somewhere. Will it does it give you any kind of error message in the log?

I will have to check the log and see if there is anything glaring. I have used Opera a couple of times in quick searches and not see the problem, but the two times I have been browsing for something a little more in depth it causes the warm reset when exiting.

In the end I dont really like the Opera setup, tbh. It is nice to view a website in 'normal mode' but it is rather useless on the treo screen since I have to either zoom in so far (and constantly scroll left and right) or switch to mobile mode which doesnt load images.

I was looking for a mobile browser that gave me a better interface and allowed for tabbed browsing. I lost track of my quest until my wife just got her G1 from tmobile and I saw how her browsing blew Blazer out of the water which sent me on this hunt. Looking at videos of Skype and Fennec (Mobile Firefox) I was floored then cried when I saw they arent producing for the Palm OS.

Im wondering if Blazer is going to be it for me until I upgrade phones (realistically 2+ years from now).

To answer your question about data plans. I am using Tzone now tmobile web. It was initially developed for basic phones to have internet but because they left ports open I was able to get it on my Treo (now tmobile's smartphones have this port turned off so you have to get their $25-35 a month plans). I have never had any limits come up (aside from a few, very few, pages say they are unable to load everything due to size, but they still load what I need). I can view text and graphic heavy pages, google maps both application and internet site work fine, etc.

Airtime means Data Connection not minutes.
