File compatability question.. - Treo Forum

I'm sure this question has been asked 10 million times but without an SD card.. can you transfer any files like mp3s, wavs or oggs through the Quick Install feature? I haven't gotten an SD card yet but was wondering if I could throw a few mp3s onto my phone to tide me over.

You can, but it takes a long time. I strongly recommend getting an SD card reader as well.

Believe me, getting a big SD card is on top of my priority list but I'd like to wait and get a good deal on one because it's not gonna kill me if I wait a week or two. If it's not to much trouble.. could you link me to/explain in a nutshell a way to get such a file onto my 700p?

Take a look at TigerDirect if you're in the US. Very fast shipping, great deals too. I order most of my computer components from them. When I get home I'll try to get you the exact info. I'll have to break out my 650 again to figure it out.

You want help in transferring files to your 700. Select the mp3 song you want to install. Click and drag it to the Palm Quickinstall box. Hotsync your phone and the file will transfer. I you transfer more than one mp3 it will tak a while.

Also, remember that alot of your memory will be eaten up by MP3 files. So I recommend not putting to many until you get your SD card.

). Muuucchh faster trasnfers.

No see this is the problem. When I try to transfer mp3s (wavs, oggs, etc.) through quick install it says file not compatible. If I queue them into the SD card reader portion of quick install then they'll successfully transfer (that is if I had an SD card). I guess then the question is.. why can't I transfer mp3s through quick install?

Do you have the standard version of Ptunes? the standard version only takes MP3's. you must upgrade to get the other types on your device.
