TCPMP causes my 650 to reboot

Hi, fellow Treonauts!

I have a Treo 650 (Verizon) and love it. The only complaint I have is that the TCPMP Media player (v.0.71) causes my device to reboot when switching from the player to any other application. This seems to happen only if I watch for over five minutes or so. Shorter durations don't seem to cause the reboot. It also reboots if a call comes in while watching a video or even if the device is off and TCPMP was the last app used.

I tried Googling this, but couldn't find anything. Has anyone experienced this? Does the commercial CorePlayer resolve this?

Thanks!

Rich.

Hey - Sorry to report that the 0.72RC1 release does the same thing - reboots my 650 when switching apps after watching about 5 minutes or more. I ran the error check (#*#377) and the error was listed as a Fatal Exception. Any suggestions? I also emailed Core asking them if they were aware of this issue. I encode all my video files for the Treo using VEMoDe. Do you think that might be causing the problem? I also have a lot of 3rd party apps loaded, I suppose I could start deleting them one at a time and testing TCPMP. Was hoping for a better course of action.

Thanks.

yeah, you've definitely got some kind of app conflict. i wouldn't think the prog you use to encode would be the culprit, but give that a try. i use fairuse wizard and i've never had a problem with videos. sorry i can't be of more help, i'm slightly baffled here.

I think I figured it out. Figuring it might be a hack, I Googled "keycaps600 treo reboots" and found this article. At first I disabled KeyCaps (did not delete it). I played a 50 minute TV show with no reboot issues. I then Re-enabled it but left "Re-enable on Reset" unchecked and played the same 50 minute show with no issues. I played a 22 minute show, again with no issues. I reselected the "Re-enable on Reset" option and after playing the 22 minute show again, it rebooted. So it looks like this option in KeyCaps is the culprit.

Thanks for your help - just dialoging back and forth helped me think through the problem. I was limiting myself by including TCPMP in my searches.

usually when something funky is happening like in your case, it's an app conflict. glad to see you figured it out!

How long did you go without reboots? From what I can tell, it looks like about 6 days. Did you do or change anything in the last week?
