Treo 680 "701" text message - Treo Forum

Good morning,
I am continually receiving text messages from "701" that should be email messages. I have not yet set up my email on a new unlocked Treo 680. I have T-Mobile as a phone provider and Comcast as my ISP. I suppose somehow I set something up incorrectly so I'm now receiving textmails in place of emails? I am using VISTA OS. Initially, when I called T-Mobile to set up email, I was told to choose "other" as my server instead of Comcast and use my phone number as the incoming and outgoing email address. Something seems strange about that me thinks but I'm stupid when it comes to these things. Any suggestions would be helpful.

If your trying to use your Comcast email on your Treo, you'll need to use their settings. Emails sent to your phone number will go to your txt messaging application.

Thanks for your reply. I did, this evening, set up my email using my Comcast settings. Will this eliminate the receiving of the "701" stuff do you think? So far I haven't noticed any further downloads in my message folder but the emails are coming through just fine. I would like to set the limit on the size of the email higher if possible.

You can change the message download limit in the preferences menu.

Here we go again. I'm getting the "701" messages in my messaging file again and they are ones that appear in my PC email. Could this be a result of how I set up my T-mobile account? Some of the emails are coming through just fine and others are coming in as SMS messages from "701" that can't be opened and read and shows my phone number followed by :1. Because I can't read them, I just purge all and go on with my life but it's aggravating not knowing why they're appearing in the wrong application. When I ask someone to text me as a test of the text messaging, they come in just fine as a text message that I can read and work with. '
Any suggestions or might this be a T-Mobile issue?
