Pushing E-mail

Hello,

I've been trying to get some clarification but doing a lot of research and comming up with nothing. I would like to get e-mail through my treo 700w and I already have a Verizon Wireless EVDO Card for my laptop that Im paying 50 bucks a month on already. I do NOT want to pay another 50 a month on a data plan just to get e-mail. I read a lot about pushing e-mail to the treo with Over The Air technology. Does this mean using the phone service I already have or do you have to have a data plan with an active internet connection. Is there anything out there or anything comming to where e-mails can be pushed via the telephone system I already have like SMS messages or do I have to have a data plan period to get e-mail?

Thanks
-Brett

Verizon has a tendency to be kinda greedy (like most big companies), so don't expect them to let you use a data plan on your treo without paying for it, and the only way the push-mail programs work are with constant data connections. Some web based email services allow you to get SMS notifications of new emails, but they generally only include the topic, and you would have to log in to read the whole thing or reply. The other option is to have a unlimited data plan on your treo, and tether it to your laptop with bluetooth. You would be able to use your phone for email and some web surfing, then tether it to your laptop for serious surfing or work (but who want's to work? ). You'd have to talk to Verizon about tethering your phone to your laptop as some providers don't like this and will slam you with an extra charge.
