IM for 680? - Treo Forum

On my 650 I used AIM for instant messaging - when I bought the 680 I installed the software right away, now on my second 680 due to many freezes, crashes, etc. I am slowly adding third party software again, but am worried about AIM. Have done some checking around and cannot find the application for the 680. Has anyone found a good IM app to use with AOL instant messaging? I have contacted VeriChat but haven't received an answer yet on whether they have an updated version for the 680.

I'm going on vacation tomorrow but am not installing anything until after my trip, just in case.

Hiya sunflower there's a list of IM apps at our store that will AIM.

As for Verichat PDAapps is now a part of Intellisync Corporation and no longer sell Verichat so they won't be any updates.

I doubt you will hear anything as the producers of Verichat, PDA Apps, have been taken over by Nokia who have since discontinued all their products

There are quite a few laternatives to choose from including IM+, Mundo Messenger, etc.

Thanks so much for the info! I will definitely try/buy one of the services listed since they specifically name the 680 as being compatible. (I am waiting until after my vacation just to make sure I won't be without phone/email).

I'm back from vacation and installed Causerie IM per your suggestions - trial version. I don't want to jinx it but it's been 5 days and so far so good. I will definitely purchase the full application next week as long as there are no problems.

Question (off topic) - I've been trying to post a picture to my profile and although it shows the picture in my profile, when I post a message, there is no picture in the forum. I've tried various pictures - is there a step I missed (I have uploaded pictures before). Thanks.

@ Sunflower: Your pic is loaded as your profile pic, and not your avatar. You need to uploaded it as your avatar as well for it to show up in your posts!

Great list! While some of those are HUGELY out of date(when will Yahoo step it up!?), there are a few great options at the top!
