Inserting images Pt.1

Sometimes you may want to insert screengrabs or images into your posts.

There's a number of ways to do this using one of the great free image hosting services.

Imageshack.us is one of those services.

This services hosts the image and provides you with all the code you need to insert a tiny thumbnail of the image into your forum post. In addtion the thumbnail is a link to the file size image. Imageshack is ad supported.

allyoucanupload

I found allyoucanupload to be even easier to use for inserting images and has almost no ads when viewing full size images.

Use the site in a similar fashion to imageshack and then just use the second box down "for a forum or message board (primary)* " for either the thumbnail or full size image and paste it straign into your post.

So to host an image using imageshack:

1. Go to imageshack.us. You'll see this:

2. In the middle on the right hand side you'll see the upload options box. The default options should be fine but you may want to experiment.

Select Browse and navigate to the image you want to show everyone. When you're ready click "host it!" and your upload will begin.

3. Once the upload is complete you'll see this screen.

Whilst this looks complex all it's doing is giving you multiple options for "vB Code" - a special formatting code that forums such as this one use to make things bold or italic or big or small.

Options described as "Thumbnail for ..." are suitable for this forum and the images in this post are using "Thumbnail for forums (1)".

4. Click in the box of BB Code to the left of the option you want to use and copy the code to your clipboard. Come back to you post and paste the code in. It should look something like this in your post:

Also if you use Firefox when you right click it gives you the option to "copy link location", click on that option and then paste the url between this code i've placed a * to show where to paste[img]*[/img]
