![]() | RIM introduces very nice Blackberry Bold Palm better get their act together with a new high end Treo because Research In Motion introduced their new Blackberry Bold on Monday May 12, 2008. They seem to be catching up with Apple’s iPhone although some say Apple is prepping for the gen-2 iPhone … still they suffer from not having a dedicated tactual keyboard. There might still be a window for other high performance smartphone players since both the iPhone and new Blackberry Bold are only available on the AT&T networks. ![]() |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I guess it depends on whether you like Blackberries or not, personally I find them horrible devices to use Spec wise there's nothing to get really excited about with the Bold. I think Palm have got more to worry about from the new HTC devices ![]()

![]() | Taz, with all due respect . BB's were not built as a entertainment device ,unlike our beloved treo's . All they "BB's" were meant to do is deal with push email in the most efficient way. That's why more 80% of BB's are company issued .

![]() | Well in my case I have done a non-scientific review of what I use my Treo for and I might be ripe for a Blackberry Bold ... unless I play the numbers $$$ game. In that case Sprint and the Treo still win out. Here are how I rank my top ten smartphone uses in order or priority (how about you?): 1) Phone calling 2) Contact manager 3) SMS messaging -- would use Blackberry Email ... I think? 4) Datebook 5) Web -- weather, airlines, news, killing time, stock quotes, etc. 6) Camera 7) Email -- never have liked Versamail. 8) Slingbox as a Tivo controller - setting up a recording time. 9) GPS - now that I've used a Garmin Nuvi I don't like my Tom Tom 10) PDAReach for Notebook computer Internet access |

![]() I think the way the devices and BES integrate together is very good and can understand why corporates are so fond of them, but I've found the UI on the Blackberry to be garish and cumbersome. This is just the general use of the device rather than any specific feature. I also find it amusing that everyone I've met who owns a Blackberry also carries a standard mobile for making calls on ![]() I'm sure the new Bold will be a success with current BB users but I think Treo users are after something different so wouldn't expect people to be switching devices in droves. @RichC if the Bold covers your needs better than a Treo then go for it ![]() There isn't one device for all people so it's finding the one that ticks the most boxes ![]()

![]() @Treotosh, BB Connect was only available on a limited number of Treo's and seems to be a dead product now.
