well I snuck a peek at the results and so far only one vote. I have only had cell fone service with Alltel and Cingularly AT&T Of those two I would have to say Alltel but its been like 7 or 8 years since I had an Alltel phone. I have gotten good results and help dealing with Cingular but its been 99% dealing with the local stores.

From my experience, they are all half way decent in the store (depending who you get to talk to), and all horrible on the phone. At least, when I had the services. I had Cingular years ago, Nextel a few years ago, Sprint now, and my Verizon is based off of friends.

What the said, Nextel was by far the best, I heard Cingular is good now, and Sprint is the worst (no experience with Alltel).

I had some issues with my phone when in college, actually, my Mom and Sister as well. We had the same phone for a while which basically had been replaced twice but still continued to fail. We used our "free upgrade" to get the phones and were told if we wanted something else (a working phone) we would have to pay full price for the phones.

I ended up being passed along for the course of week to the Director of Customer Service for the Chicgaoland area.

The conversation started fine, but soon got heated. He exclaimed the best he could do was a 5% discount on whatever new phone we chose but would still have to pay the other 95% for a new phone out of pocket. I expressed how this would not do to which he replied, "you got your discounted phone, tell Diane (my Mother) to stop being cheap." The conversation ended with BOTH of us exchanging "un-pleasantries". When I said I would be writing and calling to report him he replied, "thats fine, all reports, even those sent to other offices, will simply be re-directed back to me. It all ends with me." I wrote and called anyways, never received any responses.

The funny part is that because we just "upgraded" to our garbage phones we renewed our contract for another two years, leaving would have incurred a ETF. By the time the contract was up my wife convinced me to stay simply because for our needs they were $20-30 a month cheaper than Verizon and other carriers are rubbish in Chicagoland, or were at the time. Along with the fact that most of our friends were in network, though they have since left during this current contract we are in.
