![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | My Location to be activated tomorrow on Centros. Google Maps My Location will be activated tomorrow by Palm and Google. The announcement only seems to apply to AT&T/Cingular. Presumably it will be available to Verizon eventually as well (the other GSM carrier). My Location works by triangulating your location via cell towers. I believe this will be a free alternative, albeit not as good a one, to GPS devices. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Thanks for the clarification. I thought Verizon and ATT were GSM and T-Mobile and Sprint were CMDA. Must be T-Mobile then, that is GSM, instead of Verizon. Also, according to Forgot and other sites (although I didn't see this in the original article I read), it will only be available to unlocked Centros. That narrows it down considerably. |

![]() | T-Mobile (mine) and ATT is GSM, Verizon and Sprint (wife's) is CDMA. As far as "narrowing", Stuart, you and I have already discussed your high place in my ever-advancing move to world domination. With the aid of LL and his .prc-modified bird, I shall put you in charge of all matters concerning those two protocols. Brew- AH-AH-AH !!!!!

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Well, turns out I was right about the carriers afterall, just not about it being GSM based. Here is the update from PalmInfoCenter posted today: Google Maps v2.0.2.0 for Palm OS Released Posted By: Ryan Kairer on Tuesday, June 24, 2008 10 34 AMAs foretold, Google has released a new version of its Google Maps for Mobile application for Palm OS devices today. The most anticipated new feature, the "My Location" service is only compatible with the AT&T and Verizon Cento at this time. The Sprint Centro will be made compatible via a software maintenance release expected sometime later this summer. Palm OS Treo devices are apparently not compatible with the new feature and Palm has no plans to release and update for these devices. Google's blog post states "older Palm models such as the Treos don't have the APIs needed to get the cell tower data, so My Location is not available on these models." Google Maps v2.0.20 also features some additional new features that all devices can take advantage of including hybrid view so you can view satellite imagery with street names layered on top, an improved business and address search, and a route summary that allows you to scroll through step-by-step directions. Google Maps Mobile can be freely downloaded from google.com/gmm. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | It's rediculous that the 755p at the very least doesn't support this feature. I understand the 650, as that's been dropped from Palm support for a while now, but the 755p and to a lesser extent the 680 should certainly be upgraded. |

![]() | Nonsense..........all this chatter about My Locations.....with TomTom and a sirfSTAR III chipset, one does not need My Locations. Additionally, GPS allows one to upload targeting coordinates to virtually every one of NORAD's bluetooth-enabled ICBMs, thereby completing our destiny. LotusLord............I will need Krin to engage in a reconnaisance mission.
